Also depends upon whether cold or hot start, in that I mean you have already utilised application a short time ago.
Sometimes find best to plan a car journey whilst in house as WiFi/Network establishes location almost immediately via WLAN access point, then usually acquired enough GPS data by time left house and got in the car.

As mentioned in your other thread using A-GPS will give a much faster GPS Fix(e.g. on my Nokia 5800xm only Integrated GPS Positioning method enabled it takes anything between 5 and 20 minutes..whereas with A-GPS its hardly even 20 -30 seconds..) but it uses a few KBs (10-20) of data at start so is not completely FREE.
Also, as mentioned in the other thread the Topography / Weather affects the Fix. Also if you start the Maps application at the same place where it was last switched Off will give a quicker fix. If you Stop the application at place A and start again at pl B which is at some distance then the Fix will take longer..

Refer Pg. No. 101- 102 of the User_Guide ...
BTW..one very important point I forgot to mention while using Integrated GPS is.. you MUST be in an area open to sky. You will not get the Fix when inside your home or a building...

External bluetooth GPS receiver.
Less than 50 US dollars (Holux M-1000 or other models, even models from Nokia). Matchbox-size. Around 20 hour battery life, using its own battery.
Best investment you'll ever make if you use GPS often.
Won't drain your phone's battery because it has its own too. Bluetooth on the phone uses far less battery than the internal GPS chip. Super-sensitive, often getting a lock easily indoors too (depending on the building).
You can turn off A-GPS and network features in your phone's GPS settings too - it will just use the GPS satellites, nothing else - guaranteeing no Assisted-GPS network surprises when roaming or when not using a data plan. It's the most consistent, best solution, in my opinion. The only downside being you have to carry two items, but it's easy to put the GPS receiver in your bag pocket and so on.
