Hello first time poster here - so be nice
.
I recently got the Nokia 2730 classic , it has Ovi Maps 3.0. I downloaded Maps from the site etc installed it onto the memory card. Now when I go to search say London. The search comes back with results I choose any of them and I'm presented with a blue circle souranded with blank yello
. Now If I go to select Bath I choose any of the results I get a perfect map with locatoins etc, infact I can pan to London and get the same results (good map with info). So why can't I search London and get the map with th details ? Infact I can't do any location but Bath
.
Thanks

Hi 3G_FTW
Your 2730 Classic has no GPS support so can only determine position by "Network triangulation" Are you actually in Bath?

Hi 3G_FTW
User guide not very helpful, but with regards to no mapping detail in London I don't know whether you have a generous data plan as if you Select Menu > Maps > Settings > Network settings > Allow network usage > Yes or In home network. (To prevent automatic download of maps, select No) it will download maps as needed which should demonstrate if working.
With my 3720 Classic which is similar S40 device to yours the United Kingdom maps were pre-installed on 1GB microSD and as I used an external Bluetooth GPS have not experienced any issues.

Hello ,
When I set it to offline and try to search it basically comes up with a white screen and reboots.

I'm a new user and have just bought a 2730 on orange (UK) to replace my 6230i which ran google maps fine.
Though mine claims to have Maps pre-installed they don't work at all, it can occasionally verify an address but that's about it. It appears not to be listed on the Ovi pages as a compatible phone for any of the Maps versions and I gather Nokia are fully aware of this problem but continue to sell this defective article and don't plan to do anything to sort it.
I gather that whatever is (or in my case isn't) pre-installed can''t be upgraded at all.
I call it a complete con, particularly as I can't use the excellent google maps on it either. I shall not buy another Nokia handset.
I've made two complaints to Nokia so far neither of which have been answered.
You don't expect GPS and Navigation at this price, but I do expect that it does what it says it will do - the instruction book concerning maps with this handset is utter rubbish.
