Will Ovi Map 3.03 be compatible with the E71? Right now it isn't.

Further devices will be added in the future, however i am unable to give exact models and dates of release.

Check www.nokia.com/maps for updates to the compatibiliy list.

Even a Free Navigation Licence for the "old" Ovi Maps 3 on E71 would be very much appreciated.

  The new FREE Ovi Maps announced today rendered my current maps 3.0 USELESS!!!   My current install is asking me to go and update with the new version - no problem there - but you are NOT supporting E71 yet...so I can't download and replace it!  Any clarification would be helpful!

Hi,

Can you explain how? There is not a download option for the Maps 3.03 on the E71.

Running Nokia Maps Updater will upgrade your E71 to the latest version or 3.01.

I run my current Maps Updater 2 times - once through Ovi Suite 2.x than by itself - to detect the updates but it came back saying I'm all up to date. I checked the Maps Updater version and it was identical to the version available for download 1.0.12...I uninstalled it and I'm reinstalled it. Currently checking for updates for my E71...and here's what I'm getting: There are no new updates for your phone! Manage your maps & voices with Map Loader!...I have the latest 3.0x maps on my phone

Finally,is free navigation upgrade availble for existing E71 devices or not?

At the support page it asks to download new maps updater and maps loader and update the device via PC Suite(or Ovis uite)

So will the upgrade work now or should we wait for some more time for free navigation & directions to be availble for E71?

That will not get you free navigation.. Ovi Maps 3 has been available for all devices for several months now, being able to get it does not guarantee you will get free maps.

I would also like the option to use free navigation on my E71.

I recently upgraded to the latest E71 Ovi Maps v3.01 using map version 0.1.23.112. I have also downloaded the free maps to my phone.

Every time I start the application the following message appears: 

"Incompatible licences found. To be able to use the licences, online connection is required. Connect now?"

When I set a walking or driving route it plots the directions and starts to work. Then, after about 10-20 seconds, I get the message "Online connection required to enter the shop. Connect now?". I click "No" and the route disappears.

If anyone knows how to stop these issues it would be great as I could then use free navigation on my E71.

The upgrade to Maps 3.03 (with free navigation) does not use Nokia Maps Updater.

Any Updates offered by Nokia Maps Updater are updates to the Original Maps 3.01 software and will not cause any dificulties with your device.

The E71 is not compatible with the Free navigation version of Ovi Maps, therefore you need a license to allow you to navigate.

The online connection is required to do 1 of 2 things :

1) check the Maps server for a possible free navigation licenses (depends on the device and package purchased)

2) Make a purchase of a navigation license to allow purchase.

Ok, before we all get too confused it would seem that the latest OVI software available for E71 is not the free version we keep hearing about. Aside from the info available and advertising being misleading, this leaves 2 questions - can somebody from Nokia please answer:

1) Will there be free version of OVI with maps/directions etc for the E71 ?

2) if yes, when?

I'm having exactly the same problem with my N85. When I enter the shop the licenses are not free. Is the drive navigation option free or not!

Confirmed - Nokia N95 8GB here and that also will not update to 3.03.  3.03, which I can confirm from my N97 mini, is not -that- different from 3.01, yet the older versions still insist on requesting you to purchase a license.

It's unfair to exclude devices which are almost the same in specification AND have virtually the same product available (literally only a version number different - there CANT be that many changes).

As suggested here and elsewhere, why not issue "free" licenses for the current version of the product?  It's not difficult Nokia, come on sort it out!

I've the same problem now. So if I interpreted criss, in case we update to latest map software v3.01.09w44, E71 starts asking these stupid questions because free navigation licence is not aavaialble for E71.
