As quite often asked what size memory card needed for World Maps the answer has to be 16GB:

i'm one of those who asked about the size of world maps for 3.06 form your other thread at: /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/OVI-Maps-00-02-42-122-for-use-with-v3-06/td-p/937765

i could download and install africa and australia fine. unfortunately the zip file for asia got corrupted. my guess is google chrome mangled the file toward the end. haven't tried europe and america yet.

Also forgot to mention that this also would mean 16GB of space needed on PC to achieve result.

With Ovi Maps 3.03, the total for All maps (not including voice) is 6.04 GB currently (just downloading them at the moment).

Any knowledge where the extra ~2 GB comes with 3.06 maps? Are there more countries, better coverage or more POIs on 3.06 maps, or is the extra just some superfluous extra graphics for 3D buildings etc.?

Ps. Ovi Maps downloads seem to work much more reliably and faster than last time I tried it (like half a year ago). Less people trying to download nowadays? I still think Ovi Maps is the king of mobile phone navigation, mainly because I need the offline capability badly abroad, like in two weeks (that's why I am downloading the newest maps now). With e.g. Google Maps (Android) it seems to be quite PITA trying to get it to work offline, and most instructions actually seem to use some other map data than from Google, like OpenMaps or something.

In some countries an extra layer for transportation (railway links) is included together with graphics for 3D buildings, ironically POI in form of ClientIndex doesn't change at same frequency as mapping does.

Nice post aspergerguy just about to buy a 8gb card and download maps, was sure it would be plenty, so thx for saving me from running into problems .... Wonder if my 5800xm would take a 32gb Micro SDHC card? Phone spec says 16gb

Thx farby fort he links, some say it will, some say it wont and some say it will, but could slow the phone. Soit seems nobody really knows for sure.
