My N97 gps is having difficulty getting a fix on my position.
i was side by side with my fiance E71, and hers gets a fix in less than 20 secs. Whereas my N97 takes a long time, and after that, It just say unable to get a fix on the locatin, GPS works poor in enclosed area.
all my settings are the same as my fiance's one.,.
i'm phone to phone with hers, yet hers get a fix in less than 10sec..
even inside our house..
i am wondering is it due to the network..??
where is the gps antennae receiver in N97..???
quite getting **bleep** at this gps thingy..

Make sure to enable this:
App > Location > Postioning > Position server > Positioning server use > automatic
Map 3.0 really need a internet connection to enable the GPS sat, I disabled the above before, but cant get any gps signal, when turned on, its ok. Very strange!

same here. Got my N97 last week. Most of the time i just get "waiting for GPS".
Sometimes, without apparent reason it gets GPS signals, but usualy just for a few km
And, it frequently requests I should close Connections as the maximum had been reached,
although theres no othe App open, and i had just restartet my phone.
I wonder if this is a hardware or a software problem.
Any hints ?
regards
Matthias

I have found out something..
dunno whether it applies to other country (i'm in singapore btw)
contrary to my earlier post..
i have this niggling feeling that the reason why my fiance's E71 managed to picked up the signal fast is due to the network. She is using post-paid 3G (M1) whereas i'm using a prepaid (M1 too).
Her setting are A-Gps, Intergreted Gps and Network based.
So i switched her sim to my N97..
Voila..
Less then 10 secs, it manged to pick up my position via A-Gps or network based (w/out going online).
Accuracy is around 100m +/-
But sattelite is still not picked up..
but its better then nothing.
So.. u have to check whether ur telco supports A-gps network.
I figure my prepaid does not support it.
Cheers
