Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

Hi,

I know we can't remove the maps v3.08 from our phone(mine nokia c7) itself because it is not showing in apps manager. But i found out  an alternate way.I have not yet tried it ,but u can see if it works and tell us about it.

For this use the "Nokia PC Suite v 7.1.62.1" and not nokia ovi suite on ur pc.

If u go to application manager in the pc suite it shows all the apps installed including the nokia maps 3.08 and its other files also.

So anyone tries it and it works well pls post about it.

 Thanks

Re: Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

Hi  - I have just removed V3.08 by just downloading V3.06 again from the OVI store and installing it. It worked like a charm on my E7. Hopefully nokia/ovi keeps the V3.06 version on the ovi store, because V3.08 is in many ways a downgrade from V3.06.  eg, you cannot go to a location and use the "add to route" feature in order to have multiple stop-overs on a route and you can only have a route calculated from your current location  - which makes saving a route for later use pointless.

@roftie,

Be warned that as you didn't removed v3.08, some things may not work as before on your phone!

Like you, after completly disliking v3.08, I simply installed v3.06 over it, from Nokia Store. Maps 3.06 did worked correctly then, but soon I realized that the integration between contacts adresses and Maps 3.06 had stopped working. If I tried to verify a new contact's adress on the map, Maps 3.06 opened with an error. Same occured when I tried to locate an existing contact's address on the map.

The only solution was to uninstall Maps 3.06, install Maps 3.08, completly remove Maps 3.08 and installing Maps 3.06 again. Only after all those steps I was able to make the integration between contacts adressses and Maps work correctly.

The official way of completly removing Maps 3.08 is: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-maps-for-mobile-v3-08/more_info#Revert

Regards.

forgot to mention: my phone is a C6-01 w/ Anna.

Re: Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

All the credit to Bearshare.
I will list all 3.08 components, just in case betalabs link is deleted or something:

un-install these from the Application Manager:

Check In
Check In Agent
Check In Data
Check In Widget
Create a Place
Drive
Guides
Headless Map and Navigation
Map and Navigation
Map Apps
Maps Settings Plugin
ODML Commons Repository
Nokia (Ovi) Maps
Nokia (Ovi) MapsEngine
Nokia (Ovi) Maps Installer
Nokia (Ovi) Maps ODML
Weather

(Helpful Hint: Unistallation process is faster if you uninstall “Ovi Maps” and “Ovi Maps ODML” first.)

You can delete this components from PC Suite :smileywink:

Next, re-install 3.06 from Ovi Store
Regards, and thanks again to Bearshare

Guess reinstall from Ovi store is not possible now- the app seems to have been removed(for C6-01, at least).

Re: Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

Sorry guys, my mistake :smileysad:
Nokia Maps 3.08 apps can not be uninstalled from PC Suite, neither from Nokia Suite, it seems...
I am thinking seriously to do a Hard Reset, because since I upgraded from 3.06 to 3.08, in Drive mode can take up to 1 hr. to catch GPS signal (app shows my position, but GPS is not working...)
Any ideas?

Even hard reset wont remove maps 3.08. There Is no way you can remove Ovi store and maps.

Re: Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

@Rod_Riot,

Just follow the steps on http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-maps-for-mobile-v3-08/more_info?req=true#Revert

I've followed exactly those steps and managed to completely remove Maps 3.08 from my C6-01.

Appearantly it's not possible to remove Maps 3.08 from the PC, by using Nokia Suite or Ovi Suite. You must follow the described steps on the link above to remove 3.08 from the phone.

Re: Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

@bearshare, seems you had installed Nokia maps 3.08 from beta labs. In that case it can be removed by the method you provided. But if the maps have been installed via the software update that was received on 11th November then none of the apps you mentioned wont show in application manager, so the question of removing them does not arise. Moreover the Nokia store now has no Ovi maps 3.06.

Re: Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

@tinkamat,

Nope, I haven't installed Maps 3.08 from BetaLabs. I installed it from phone Software Update (OTW). Although Maps 3.08 itself doesn't appear on the applications manager, the components listed before do appear and can be removed.

All credit to asperguy, Maps 3.06 can be download from the link: http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk23_b05_tb9.2_...

There may be regional and device specific differences. On my N8-00 (022.014.243.07) both the official Nokia Maps 3.8 and the latest Qt updates embeds itself into the phone firmware and cannot be uninstalled.

Re: Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

Having updated Nokia Maps OTA (3.08) I have in my App list only:

- Check in Data

- ODML Commons Repository

!!!

Through PC Suite, as stated above, although the apps are shown, it is not possible to unisntall them.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. On my C6-01 (025.007.00.01), Maps 3.08 didn't embed

itself into the firwmare and so the phone's application manager listed almost all of the components that Betalabs recommends to uninstall.

With same firmware version, Anna 025.007.00.01 on C6-01 product code 059C3Q1, factory unlocked, Maps 3.08 got embed :smileysad:
I am really not happy about it

Re: Nokia Map v3.08 app Removal method

Thing is, neither OTA or Nokia Suite allow me do this. They show: all apps are updated.
So, I have no "official" source to download 3.08 again
Hey, if your C6-01 is Iberic, and mine is LTA, we should communicate in Español, ¿no? hehehe
