Hi there,
I'm very much frustrated with the new Nokia Lumia 800 with the Nokia Drive option. Below are the problems i face:
- I do not have option to get the saved maps from the previous symbian phone (Nokia C7).
- There is no option to go to the desired location on the map & select 'drive to' as we had in previous symbian phones.
- I need to jus go to 'set destination' & type the address of my destination which is not at all possible to get the exact location i want to go, it was so much easier in the symbian phones the nokia drive
- If i do get my desired location (only 1 out of 10 you get it) then there is no way i can save that location (like favourites) for future use.
This is big dissappoint for me as i was looking for the new Nokia Lumia with better maps, instead it went back to the older way of navigating.
Please bring the Nokia drive with the above options in Nokia Lumia 800, as i need it & also everyone will need it once they start using it properly. I hope many are facing this issue already.
Regards,
Prashanth

I completely Agree with all the flawes mentioned, as well as that it does not always take me on he quickest route, my N8 always suggests better quicker route compared to my Lumia, Speed Camera Function should have been integrated as well as favorites etc ..... If your going to scrap Ovi then at least come back with something as good or better. Was very excited about getting the Lumia but am now very disappointed, Technology is available to be used but has not been ..... Nokia is going to lose the battle if they don't keep up continuously ...........

Nokia drive is awesome and free, Quick to connect, even without a-gps, and provides excellent directions. Thats €100 saved on over a dated looking iphoney.
But I agree with posts above needs to be a bit more user friendly with prettier more detailed maps.

Hi, I fully agreed!
My family and I have been using only Nokia since 1998. I was also recommeding Nokia to all my friend, was for its power efficiency and user friendliness. Now other makers can do equally good on both and Nokia obviosly loss out on SmartPhone features. I almost switch to Android, the only thing hold me back is the Nokia Map and Nokia Drive. Both softwares run very well on my old E71 for about 4 years and aspecially the Drive is getting better and better. Now, I move on to Lumia 800 because it cliamed that it support both Nokia Map and Nokia Drive, but totally disappoited as,
- It can't support full off-line navagation.
- It can't support off-line Map.
- It can't marked / customise my Favorites location.
- No inter-operation between the Map and Drive.
Please improve it quickily, otherwise you are going to loss this group of customers very soon.

Agreed, nokia drive could be so much better.
The thing it needs most is offline navigation. Offline maps works fine (don't know what's wrong with the last guy? Maybe consider updating drive as it was fixed recently)
Then it needs to get favorites and "home" navigation.
Then the option to switch the distance remaining to time till destination or ETA.
Then the ability to point to somewhere on the map and "take me there"
Then the speed camera warnings you got with ovi would be nice.
I just hope the guys over at nokia actually read this and take note of a few simple things that would make the app so much better

Yes, it is totally no use. I have to use back the N8.

What I really miss is the possibility to avoid high ways. Ik used Nokia Maps on my N8 on motorcycle and bicycle. I really get in trouble when I ride on the high way with my bicycle...

mattbeddow: The thing it needs most is offline navigation. Offline maps works fine
I hope the reason for lack of offline navigation is only technical. Nokia just has not yet had time to add the functionality.
I am afraid, that there are deeper reasons: Nokia is in trouble and has to play by the rules that (US) operators demand. Forcing people to pay for data transfer and having even a little data plan is important for the operators. I hope that I am wrong, but I am not surprised if we don't see fully offline navigation any more.

This a totally useless app on the Lumia 800 for me. I'm about to drive to a new client's home. I cannot select her address from within Nokia Drive/Maps. I have to find her contact and copy/paste. Drive has been setting for 5 minutes now and it still hasn't found her destination, whereas the native maps program has no problems.
What a waste of adding redundant programs. I don't even care about offline nav. I'd like to be able to find the address first!!!

I am a little confused about the discussion on Noka Drive and the functionality. As far as I can read from the user manula and from discussions somewhere else (http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/product/lumia80

Yes, I agree with everybody. Actually is a totally useless application mainly if you use (or would like to use) GPS to travel to foreign country. To use Drive app you must have an Internet connection,(even with a set of maps loaded to the phone) to find some place, and most of times will not find the exactly place!!!
I had been using Nokia mobiles for a long time because Maps and Drive app (including facility to planning travels using maps.nokia.com, synchronize favorites, etc.) but for the next acquisition, if there is no evolution on Drive app for Windows Phone, I quite sure that other smartphones will be considered on my decision.
No comments about the Nokia Maps advertising. True until N8, not so true for Nokia windows phone!

Any news about a SW update when I can set the destination just by tapping the right place on the screen? There are many points of interest ready in the map (petrol statios, bus stations etc), but I'm not able to choose this place just by tapping it. Now Nokia Drive is useless, because the application does not find the right place even by writing the address. You just can write the street but if you add the street number Nokia Drive does not find it.
