I am hoping that there is someone out there who can help me.
I have a 5800XpressMusic with firmware v51.0.006.286.02. every time that I use Ovi Maps, I get a meassage that there is an update available. I go through the update screens, and end up with the message, 'Update Failed' (No more detail than that!)
I have tried updating with OViSuite (v2.2.1.23) on my PC, (Windows 7) but get the error message:- 'Network Connection Error - Device Updates server could not be reached'
This has been going on now for over a month. I have tried resets, deleting the update files, etc. but with no joy,
In desparation, I even tried uninstalling ovi maps, and this now does not appear in the software list, but is still running on the phone! I would even wipe the handset and start from scratch if I could find out how to wipe the handset!
please help!!!!

Firstly I would suggest that delete E:\CITIES + .qf file from your memory card, you might just find that OVI Maps application will then start.
As you are prepared to "hard reset' device with resultant loss of all data and clear UDP = User Data Preservation entries, holding down the Red button - Green button - Camera Button while powering on the device until AFTER you see the Nokia shaking hands.
Download latest v3.04 of OVI Maps from here:
http://maps.nokia.com/services-and-apps/ovi-maps/d
There is another alternative to use OVI Maps v3.06 pre-release available from NokiaBeta Labs here:
http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-maps-306
The advantage of this version is that you can download regional maps to your 5800XM using it's WLAN access point.
See how you get on, but please post again if run into any issues.
