Nokia 500 PD-17 Map Upgrade

I have a Nokia GPS unit which is used in cars.  I think its model is Nokia 500 PD-17. I live in the US.  The map it's having right now is not up-to-date.  Where can I check if there is a newer version of the map which is currently installed in the unit?  I have searched all over this website, yet I have not found any information about map upgrading for this unit.  Anyone have any idea?  Thank you very much for your help.

hmm that is a very good question. who is the map supplier to the unit? is it navteq? or some other. i would suggest you go to their web site and see if there is support and updates for your unit.

there's no maps updates for this device.

I think it was discontinued, dumped and forgotten. Don't even bother calling Nokia's tech support. They don't even know that this product exist.

Search the forums, google it. You will find how to unlock device, load other maps, or recycle this piece of garbage.

I have been waiting for last 2 years to get an update for this product

 

Nokia support does not know they manfactured such a product.

Navtek says they give maps to Nokia and not the end customers.

 

So!, if you got a gift, or purchased it 2 years ago like me, throw it in the garbage.

 

If you purchased it recently, gift it to someone who you will not meet any longer. (Because the poor guy will be getting lost at signals and looking for map updates for the rest of his life)

 

Such a useless device. Wonder how Nokia first released this product priced at over 300$. Anyone who bought it at that time must be crying loud now.

Atleast I paid only a 100 bucks.

Hello!

 

Just a quick one for Europe Maps:

try Automapa 6.6.... there are a torrents for those...

try to find a tool called  Patcher1.5.0.4.exe as well and then you have a very up2date European Map...

 

I am searching for a USA map as well... does anybody know?
