Why the current version of nokia maps does not offer the route planning possibility? It is obvoius, that every user wants to plan his route, check the distance and choose the intermediary points! The level of the application is now childish, without many options. I choose the Nokia (C7) phone only because it offered an advanced, functional navigation with maps of the whole world. Symbian is not very exciting. With such a navigation as this one many users will definitely change their phones to Android devices. Will the route planning come back soon or is it possible to downgrade the maps apllication?

I have the same problem and have been in email contact with Nokia support since mid December, the last suggestion was to use version 3.06, when I tried to do this their web page came up with a message saying this version in not compatible. so at present I am staying with my E71 and wishing I had not wasted my money on the E8 !!

In The Map app select Search at bottom left of screen and then the Favourites Star tab at top right side of screen.

You would need to look at post #34 by tracy_rolling from Nokia for explanation.

I am not talking about searching one place as that is exactly where I find all my sync'ed routes.

I suspect you'll get no choice with Belle - I belive 3.08 is now the "retail offering" so, I would have thought Belle will impose it.
Sorry to say, but for me, personally, if that's the case, it will be a show-stopper for me upgrading to Belle on my N8.
3.06 of maps has all the features I need and want, along with the configuration options for them. I'm not willing to sacrifice that, so won't be doing anything that imposes moving from 3.06 of maps, until the newer offering fixes / reinstates all they broke / removed.
That to me is a real shame, for me, Nokia / OVI maps is the killer app for Nokia handsets for me. The way the product is going, if that's not addressed, and I can either easily continue with 3.06, or the newer version(s) sufficiently fixed to make them work and function as good, then I'll not be upgrading, and when my mobile contract is due for renewal, probably choose an Android handset.

No chance of removing maps 3.08?
Lost the best feature of 3.06?
Neither hardreset nor smashing on the next wall helps?
I'ts mean and back-stabbing to force us to keep this reduced version. I can't comprehend the arguments to drop the routing options and I guess nearly nobody can - except Nokia is planning a commercial version.
Navigation on your Nokia. Free. Forever.
If I only had known before, what this downgrade to 3.08 means... I never would have done it. Personally I was very pleased by the ability of creating routes on my phone. Everywhere.Everytime. I used it uncountable times in my car and on my bike - and it worked well and allways as I expected.
Nokia evidently hasn't lost enough consumers to turn around. Does anybody believe that this is the way to stop the constantly decreasing sales figures? Oh my, i can't believe it.
So far I was very happy with my N8, but now I'm desperately disappointed. I defended Nokia so many times, persuaded so many friends to buy one. Goodby Nokia.
