Anybody knows if Nokia have plans to include Nautical Charts (vector charts like Navionics or CMap type) for the OviMaps application? Remember
that iPhone has several options for this application and Google Android has plans for it too. I would like to have this on my 5230...

I'm wondering about the same thing. If not available by summer 2011, I guess I have to change the mobile to one supporting Arnoid.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. At the moment the following 3 map views are available: normal map view, satellite view, terrain view.

This would be very nice!
However, I think this is a niche market, with high demands.
It is crucial that charts are up to date, with actual depth information, and actual buoy positions.
With an inaccurate road map, I will see a road block using my eyes. with an inaccurate nautical map I might end up literally grounded.
Nokia might better focus on a real Iphone killer.
But yes, I would love nautical navigation on my Nokia.

Fantastic! Navionics charts on Nokia phones? I have a Nokia 5230 with OviMaps land navigation and this is OK. I tried to buy the Navionics charts for it, int the OVIStore site, but the 5230 is not compatible with this Navionics application. My question is: where I find what are the Nokia phones models compatibles with this application from Navionics? I would like to install the South America charts. Thanks.

@navstar
Bit late in the day for you but only Symbian^3 OS devices.
Requirements: Symbian3 Operating System, an Ovi Store account must be established and a Wi-Fi connection to download app. Ovi Store allows 6 hours maximum for customer to complete download of item purchased. All sales are final.
Navionics has certified the following Nokia Models: N8, C7 and E7.

@erbil
Probably some thing to do with Qt dependencies upon your N8, have you added any further software since?

@erbil
Weatherbug is another of these Qt applications which is supposed to run on N8 with screenshots posted upon forum, which installs OK but fails to open on my N8 but this isn't really a loss!
It's a different matter if you have paid for your application however.

Ville, did your Baltic Sea chart include the gulf of Finland Tammisaari eastbound?
I purchased the Baltic Sea chart, with hopes on it including the whole chart indicated at Ovi store (see attached picture).
Unfortunately this particular Baltic Sea chart is blank in the surroundings of Helsinki, Porvoo, Loviisa, Hamina, S:t Petersburg etc. I have not investigated it more thoroughly anywhere else. Hence, a lot more might be missing.
False marketing? Yes, indeed, but by whom?
Navionics say they sell a chart by the name of Scandinavia East at Ovi Store, including the Gulf of Finland. However they admit it has been removed for some reason and blame Nokia for it and for not taking it back.
Nokia on the otherhand say they can't decide what Navionics want to offer at Ovi store...

No way out, it seems. And the sailing season has already begun.
Sad.

Solution:
1*Reported issue to Nokia customer service. They replied me to re-install for free.
2*Uninstalled apllication ( Delete "NAVMEDIT" directory by File manager or it wont work)
3*Re-Install App. and download charts
Thats it .
it workes again, But i think this app. needs a stable upgrade

where can i find this navmedit folder?
could not locate it.

In my C7 the name of the folder was navscandinavia (or something like that).
(My Navionics Baltic Sea crashed in startup and I did these steps:
1. Remove the application (Navionics).
2. Delete navionics folder, see above.
3. Go to OviStore, search "balticsea" (no space).
4. Download and install Navionics.
5. Start Navionics (it will reload the maps, about 350 MB).
Now my Navionics works so far.)
