Re: N95 GPS Providers

put your memory card in the pc. It doesnt work wig the cable connection. Download the maps you want using nokia maploader. Go into settings/general/positioning/positioning methods and turn off agps as this will use data and there's no point using lan as a setting for agps as your going to be outside. Then go into the maps application. Settings and make sure internet is turned off. You will never need to connect and everything is free (unless you pay for the navigate upgrade). The difference of not having agps is that it can take a few minutes to get a satellite fix instead of a few seconds. But if the phone is open and in view of the sky. Either outside or on a windscreen mount it usually fixes in under a minute.

Re: N95 GPS Providers

if its that easy why do people pay for the upgrade. without agps is there voice navigation?

Re: N95 GPS Providers

A-GPS and voice guidance (navigation, directions) are two entirely different things (features).

A-GPS helps to get the position figure out faster (by the aid of data, calculations on a network service).

The voice guidance is an additional service you can buy for the Maps app (it will read out loud when to turn, etc., so that you don't have to look at the display necessarily).
