N82 - GPS Problem

Hi there,

I apologise if this has been asked before but I'm having problems accessing the maps application on the N82.

I've just received the phone after upgrading with orange but after selecting the maps option it comes up with a message about it not working due to no data or something?

Can anyone advise where I'm going wrong?

Thanks in advance :smileyhappy:

Re: N82 - GPS Problem

Do you have network connection enabled? Bear in mind you'll need a data plan from Orange or it'll cost a fortune in data downloads. The maps application needs to use data from your provider to a)establish a position where there is a poor connection to GPS and b)to refresh data for local maps.
In maps select options>settings>network>use network - set this to 'when needed'.

Re: N82 - GPS Problem

How do I get the network connection enabled?

I was under the impression it was free to use the maps but for live updates was what you were charged for. I currently have no data plan with orange so I guess it's best to purchase a bundle then.

Re: N82 - GPS Problem

Sorry if I'm being vague but I'm not familiar with the way Orange have set up their handsets, my N82 has generic Nokia software on it so it was fairly easy to set up on mine. Try calling Orange and asking them if there are any specific requirements on their network. Perhaps you haven't been sent the settings for packet data?

Ah it has been all sorted :smileyhappy:

Now I was told that I would get a three month free trial with it, how can I access this, should I have some info in the box?
