I'm trying to use Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 to update the maps on my N900, and it's stalling / never completing.

Ovi Suite is recognising the N900, and other functions (photos / music) are working OK. I've previously run the Ovi Maps on the N900.

When I click the Maps icon in Ovi Suite, after a few seconds a purple arrow is added to the icon and it advises me there are Updated Maps available. If I click on Updated Maps Are Available, it starts to try and read information from the device and never completes. ("Reading Device Memory. Please wait while retrieving the device's maps and voice guidance files"). Similarly, if I click on "On Your Device", it gives the same message and nothing else happens.

In Tools -> Options - > Maps the target device memory is "Mass Memory\\DATA\" which is the only available option.

Now that the Map Loader stand-alone application has apparently been withdrawn from the PC, I don't have another route to updating the maps that works.

Suggestions on how to fix the problem, or a workaround, most welcome.

Follow up. I disconnected and reconnected the N900, and restarted Ovi Suite, and after waiting 6-8 minutes, the message has cleared and it has found the maps on the device.

Is this the usual time to complete the maps finding/update? It seems monumentally long.

It does seem to vary a little depending upon the time of day, but always seems time to make yourself a drink.
