Issues navigating a previously created route

A couple of questions: is there an option to navigate a previously created route without having to start the trip at the beginning. It's a bit daft for the navigation to direct the driver back to the beginning when they are already travelling along the route. Secondly, it it possible to navigate a route in the reverse direction? Thanks ...
