Well I was quite excited earlier today when I saw that Nokia was going to allow voice navigation etc for free from now on. However I read an article in the Guardian I think it was that suggested that the N95 won't be supported. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so why?
I wonder if one of the software downloads for one of the other phone models might work - I don't really understand these things, but for example if a piece of software runs on one Windows computer it will usually run on most of them. Is it the same with phone software and operating systems? Cheers.

Hi, I'm writting from Greece.
In my case, the procedure finished with an error.
Have gone through the following steps:
- Downloaded Map Updater to my laptop
- Installed it
- Connected my N95 8Gb via USB and run the installed program
- Fisrt, it updated the Nokia Maps to ver.3
- Then, it erased "Outdated map data"
- Downloaded new map data, about 87Mb
Finally ended with en error "Cannot update licenses - Missing phone info: IMSI or IMEI cannot be obtained (20)"
Anyboady knows why?
thanks

Where did you read that? I sincerely hope so too, for my beloved N82.

After successfully installing the application, maps voice on my N95-8Gb all works well even without a data connection. However, turn-by-turn and traffic updates ask me to pay.
"Drive navigation is a premium service" asking for £5.79/30 days
"Traffic and safety is a premium service" asking for £2.09/30 days
Why am I being asked to pay for what is advertised as "Navigation on your Nokia. For free. Forever."
It strikes me that this is all a con to extract yet more money from us.
In the UK this appears to be a breach of the Trading Standards we have - advertising a free service and then attempting to charge for it.

I have downloaded the maps and free navigation for my N95 and it works for a while. After about one minute of navigation, it asks permission to go on line and enter the shop. I say "OK". It then tells me it can not go online, even though I am connected by USB or using the wi fi.Then it stops navigation but leaves the GPS/maps running. It looks like it wants to check a license but can not. I have used the options to visit the shop when not using navigation and on line and it tells me that no license updates are available. So, in conclusion, navigation does work on the N 95 but some license bug or connection bug stops it. Any ideas on getting around this?
Exactly the same behaviour also from my N95 8Gb...

Exactly the same for the 5530. Seems like they have unintentionally removed the navigation functionality from a lot of phones with this update / removing of licensing. Hopefully they will only take a week or 2 to fix them / update them.

I have a 3 year licence that is not due to expire until 2012 on my n95 8gb so cannot really tell what is free or not. I also have traffic licence. I paid £99 for a 3 year licence.
Im running the latest firmware V35 and have this version of maps:-
3.01 09 wk44 b01
is this the latest version of maps then for n95 8gb?

Till now their is nothing like "free" available for N95 and other devices which are not listed by nokia for free navigation license.
We can do only one thing is to pray and hope that Nokia soon make navigation free for their old devices.
Its really not fair that Nokia is providing free Navigation for there new devices only.We have also paid for there devices and we expect same from Nokia as they are providing for there new customers.

Hey flick
I can understand your problems. But in any case you should not post anything like craking of application etc here, as using cracked softwares is illegal and it is not appreciated by Nokia to use its apps in any illegal form.
I request you to kindly plz do not post anything like that here again as it can have negative effect on your status too.
