Also does anyone know when free navigation will come for N79? I feel bad because I gifted my wife an N79 few days before the announcement.

have a look here, managed to get nokia to answer...
/discussions/board/message?board.id=navigation&mes
Basically, At this point the forums staff do not know if support will be added as the only information they have is what is available to us.
For the 6210, N95, N85, etc... , owners - looks like you either wait it out in the (presumably erroneous) hope that Nokia will support your phone eventually.
They can't say anything more.

Any news or rumours?

Well, latest news is that the Ovi Maps 3.04 beta was able to work on a phone outside the "magic list"

Paid for navigation price for maps 3.01 has just dropped significantly

Yes it has, all regions one year licence now a tenth of the price previously, thanks for the info.
I prefer v2 maps anyway. Not free but still. ![]()

Really? Which phone? I tried installing maps_installer_3.04_10wk8_b02_s60_3.2.Nocs.sis on my N85, but first it whines "Application not compatible with phone" and then if you choose continue anyway, things just end with "Unable to install. No access."

@amrs - Ovi maps 3.04 for the E52/E55 worked on the N86. Not sure if anyone tested for other models yet.

I bought N79 last year and liked its GPS voice navigation that came with 3 month free license.
I reside in India and yesterday I bought 1 year license for Indian Rupees 688 which is roughly US $16.
I didn't hope that models like N79, N85 etc. will be blessed with free GPS. Nokia's marketing strategy looks like they expect guys like me to buy the GPS license at new cheap rates, which I think is a fair deal for all.
IMO, the wait for free GPS is not worth the wasted time, not atleast in modern lifestyle when we buy new phones every year !!
My two penny...
Cheers

Unfortunately N79 does not have Free Navigation.
Latest versions of OVI Maps here:
Exceptions to above v3.06 available for N97 Mini via OVI Store and for N8 via OVI Suite.
