Today I have received an sms from Nokia offering me FREE NAVIGATION. It was proposed to install a new version of maps from: www.nokia.mobi/maps/mn
I did it and ... voila! Now I have maps v3.03 10wk22 b02 instead of 3.01. My phone is 6760 which is very like E75. So it could work for E75 and possibly 5730.
You should visit the link above from your mobile.
Hope this will help.

well I too had this annoying problem
this happens when you use the ovi suite to update the country map.
try using the ovi maps uploader ..it solved my problem, though the old nokia map loader again has some problem startw downloading but again it stops even after several retries
so just use the ovi maps loader

The Maps version that includes free navigation is explictly locked to those device models that are announced to have free navigation. It's not possible to install Maps 3.03 or later to a device that is not supported. Install fails with error message operation is not authorized, or something like that. Believe me, I've tried.

Sorry dudes I posted my message because my phone still is not listed on nokia.ru as supporting free navigation. It is not even listed as supporting maps at all. And I thought that they opened free navigation for all similar phones. But I checked nokia.com and found that they had added my phone to the list. Sorry for inconvenience. Hope they will open free navigation for E75 too.

Also Nokia have released new Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241. After installation it siad that my maps is outdated and proposed me to update them. I clicked "Update" and ... first of all it deleted the existing maps from my phone and then ... it siad "Connection to server timeout".
So now I am with new maps v3.03 application but without any maps. Bravo, Nokia!
I am curious which genius have invented such algorithm - first to delete what user already have and then to make an attempt to download something new.

Just a note you can in future copy the CITIES folder to your PC as a backup of all your maps .

Then it is sad and big mistake in my opinion.
By the way, the message is dated 15 Jun. And I received the sms only yesterday. May be they changed their descicion?

Hi,
Do not use Maps Updater to update Ovi Maps. This tool is no longer supported. Please remove the application from your PC and go to Nokia.com to get your file. Installation of Ovi Maps has been simplified since the first release of free navigation. This tool is no longer supported. We apologize for not managing to get this information out sooner.
How to get the file from Nokia.com:
1. Go to nokia.com/maps
2. Click on "Get free navigation" on the left, under "Free Downloads"
3. If your phone is not eligible for free navigation, but is eligible for low-cost navigation licenses, click on "To find Ovi Maps for other phones visit Maps Support," on the bottom of the white box with a grey picture of a phone in it.
4. Choose your device from the list.
The direct url where you can find the Maps 3.01(low-cost licensed navigation for Symbian 3) is http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/ma

Like everyone else I am indebted to you, Ovikovi, for getting me out of what looked like a disastrous situation. Simply went to update the maps on my E63 and ended up with no maps at all on my phone. I spent hours going round in circles, uinstalling and reinstalling OviSuite, MapUpdater, PCSuite, trying all the links, reinstalling my phone OS, even rang Nokia's helpline ("we're working on it") all to no avail. Lots of other discussion groups mentioning the problem but until I found your thread, nothing worked for me.
If you have the answer, temporarily at least, why Nokia can't put it on their FAQs is completely baffling. The irony is that I think my E63 is a great little phone and the maps are brilliant. This is the big selling point that Nokia are promoting, so how bizarre that they seem intent on ruining the customer experience. Particularly frustrating that the E63 which came with maps installed is never listed in their map compatibility and download list of phones - grrrrr!
Anyway, I installed the Nokia Ovi Maps 3.01 application and the UK maps that I previously had on my phone were still there. Funny thing is that I don't see any maps listed in the diskcache folder - what name would the file have?
I would also like to add maps for Italy but I don't think this is file you have provided before.
Thanks again for your true community spirit and invaluable help.

anttiah, thanks so much - you are very kind and helpful. The maps installed and display perfectly. Why can't Nokia themselves provide this service?!!!!

Hello,
thanks a lot for your kindly help. I downloaded both the California and Mexico Index files. When I want to unzip both in the cities\diskcache\ClientIndex, the files City.dat, City.db and City.ref in the Countries and Categories subfolders have the exact same location so the files in the second extracted zipfile overwrites the first ones.
What is the correct procedure for using more than one Index file at the same time?
Edit : I also figure out now that the mexico map files which are installed after the california files are not recognized by the software. Is there a way to work with multiple map and index files at the same time?
