Recently, my Ovi Maps got some sort of error/problem, which I dont understand, nor dont know what to do about it.
When i open Ovi Maps, it automatically shuts down after a few seconds.
I tried to update to the newest version, when went succesfully. However, the same error remains, it still kepss shutting automatically.
Does any know what this is causing, and/or how it can be solved?
Im using an E5-00, firmware version 042.014.231.01 (latest version).
Thanks in advance!

If you update from OVI Maps v3.04 to v3.06 old map data from 00.01.25.114 has to be deleted and new data from 00.02.42.122 downloaded. Are you saying that you watched new regional map data being downloaded and installed as this takes quite a while?
If you haven't downloaded new map data, would suggest that you delete E:\cities & .qf file, re-start OVI Maps application upon device to re-initialise and re-create necessary folder structure.

Sorry my bad for even mentioning v3.06 with reference to S60 3rd FP2 device!
You have the latest version of OVI Maps, as v3.06 with later maps not compatible unfortunately.

Hi, I have the same problem with the Ovi Maps 3.04 (it shuts down after 1s it was started). I followed you advices and deleted the data on the memory card. After restarting the maps application still the same issue. Not even the qf file is created... I reistalled ovi maps - same thing. On the nokia site, it says E5-00 is compatible with ovi maps... I have the latest SW update as well: 042.014. Any other thoughts?
I would say, the topic is still not closed!

Well, if exactly following all the advices doesnt help you, perhaps its an idea to re-install the lastest firmware and format your memory card.
Before you do that, synchronize through Ovi Sync to not loose your data, and make a backup of your text messages and settings.

Already done this too... I did not have to back up my data, as the phone came out of the box... and it had the same problem! That's why I updated the firmware to 42.014. Were most the maps problems on E5-00 solved with the deleting of the files on the memory card? what about that newest update 071.003 ?

Had trouble with this as well, until I discovered that if the Maps internet connection is set to WiFi, and I begin navigation (so as to plan a future route, for instance), Maps immediately quits. If I have Maps connect to the internet via cell data (3G), then I do not have the sudden quit upon navigation problem. If Maps is set to GPS-only, and you are still having the quitting problem, then the problem lies elsewhere. Aspergerguy once suggested downloading at least one additional voice for navigation; you might try that.
