I would like to use Ovi maps on my Nokia phone during cycle rides. The walking directions are reasonable for cyclists as they avoid major roads and motorways, but there semms to be a limit of around 40 miles. Can this be removed, or changed?
Thanks

You're right ! Just tried to walk to something which is 75 km away, and there is a clear errormessage telling me that this is too far away....
This here is a user-forum, you should use Nokia-Contacts for asking for this improvement. Like the OVI-Maps internet pages and the appropriate Contacts-Buttons....

Good idea! I'll report back when I have an answer.

An acceptable work around might be (In Maps settings menu | Route)
Transport mode: Drive
Route selection: Shorter route
Motor way: No
(And maybe Tunnel / Ferry / Toll road / Train ferry: All No)

Hi,
I've seen the "options" in the drive routes to be very acceptable.
You can configure just about any way you want to go.
Maybe they can create a pogo sticking route option as well ![]()

Still no luck with this. And with the latest upgrade the maps app seems to think that the short sections I've been forced to use are now "rtoo long for walking". Can't we just remove this stupid limit????

This is stil not solved? :-(
I just wanted to buy a handlerbar holder for the N8.
Complain maybe on the betalabs website for the latest beta Ovi Maps:

Can I add my voice to this? Living in London, cycling is a great way to get around and can be quicker than by car. There are numerous cycle routes and roads where only a cycle can legally enter from one end (barriers prevent cars).
Making OVI maps cycling friendly would be most helpful. Clearly the technology is there since the system can distinguish between walking and driving routes, so one more please?

Close but see my post below. There are a significant number of streets in London which are dead ends for cars, but not for bikes. These provide quieters, quicker routes for cycling but Ovi maps doesn't know about them.
I could try "walking" but then I would hope I would get directed down alleyways and so forth, of which there are many in London but few where riding a bike is permitted.
So we really would like a specific "bike" option please.

FWIW, I tried cycling around London with my 5800. Firstly, using a blue tooth headset ddn't work partly because things were too noisy for me to hear is, but also because the headset "disconnected" (power saving?) and then lost the start of each SatNav announcement as it reconnected.
Using a wired headset (phone on a lanyard around my neck) worked fine although as I've said elsewhere, I'm sure there were some cycle friendly routes missed. Working the options (such as no tunnels) worked fine.
