Nokia N900: Nokia's worst phone yet

I have always been a loyal buyer of Nokia phone products.  I have owned every Nokia communicator since the 9000. Sometimes I have owned 2 communicators at once, one for Europe, and one for the US.  Even with the most advanced features, they were very reliable.  Even the E90 is a good phone.  Two years ago, I started looking into smaller phones to use on the weekends.  I bought the N95.  I have a large family so when I buy a phone and it works out, I buy 3 additional phones for my family members.  The N95 was a very good phone and in total I bought 4.  When the N96 arrived, I upgraded one phone for it.  What a big mistake the N96 had many operational problems, in additional to the poor build quality.  Finally, one day I just smashed the phone.  When the 5800 came, I thought well maybe this one will work better.  The 5800 worked very well, and I bought in total 4 phones.  The 5800 was good, but maybe the N97 is better.....WRONG.  What a piece of **bleep**.  Nokia advertised that the N97 has GPS capability, but they never pulled one off the factory line to test it in the real world.  Had they done that they would have known it didn't work. After nearly causing a major accident, I threw the thing out of the window and went back to the 5800.  My last venture into the Nokia junk yard was  the recent purchase of the N900.  One day after having the N900 the microphone did not work.  The retailler gave me a new phone, but after one week later the ear piece stop working.  I could hear callers when I used the integrated speaker phone, but using the ear piece on the phone.  So now the N900 will be gone for 2 weeks for repair for a phone I've only owned a week.  I can't believe that a company whose primary income is from the manufacture and sale of phones, can't make a phone that can successfully, and reliably do what cell phones have been doing for the last 20 years, permit voice communications between two parties.  All the bells and whistle are nice, but whether Nokia wants to call it a phone or an internet device, it needs to successfully, and reliable make and maintain wireless voice communications.  Failing that Nokia's dominance will end just as Motorola's did.

Re: Nokia N900: Nokia's worst phone yet

Nokia u failed miserably....

What is the use of firm upgrade when

1. you cannot deliver better service?

2. the upgrade makes all the functional services dysfunctional??

3. the availabe features [e.g. oxford dictionary, games] are deleted for no reason???

Its my N96

Everything was running fine until...

You **bleep** asked me to upgrade to the latest firmware

Gone my camera, gone my voice recorder and other multi-media features.

Thats not the end

The service centre charge 300 bucks on the plea

That they would fix my set

I shelled out those hard earned money

Just to find that nothing is done.

What do you think you are doing???

You are not worth ever a single swearing

So you are spared

Any comment?

Re: Nokia N900: Nokia's worst phone yet

yeah, i gotta say troll.

the only way an upgrade would screw up the phone is if you accidentally downgraded...

it will only delete your stuff if you 'flash' it, at which point, deleting is generally implied...

as for better service... nokia service centres are franchises. ie. aside from the name, they have very little to do with nokia.
