Hi,
Can anybody please help me how to connect with 802.1x WLAN security network. All of other symbian devices N8, E7 can connect with it. I have the N9 latest phone from Nokia and it dont even support 802.1x in WLAN security options. I have searched through a lot of forums and this topic isn't even anywhere. Please help

hi
N9 does support 802.1x but not as many mechanisms as symbian does.
ieee 802.1x covers a large variety of EAP protocols.
n9 supports 802.1x (called "wpa eap" in GUI) with the following eap methods (as with PR1.1) :
- peap-mschapv2
- peap-eap-gtc
- eap-tls
- eap-ttls
you have to tell us which method you use

1st of all 802.1X is not even listed in Security method for of WLAN settings in Nokia N9 PR1.1. However same is listed in Symbian^3 for Nokia N8 and E7. 2ndly same settings works on N8 and E7 but not on N9. N9 showing me "something's wrong with network connection". In the syslog, i am getting these error msges.
Feb 7 12:46:29 (2012) icd2 0.201.2+0m6[1271]: WLAN: Asked data for ssid "mobily" but got 5 results but no req ssid, ignoring all results (up=0x1249c)

I am adding snapshots of Nokia E7 & N9 for comarison of settings

More snapshots as i can only add 3 files at once

hi
802.1x is just the standard way to enable EAP authentication and port access authorization. so WPA EAP and 802.1x are two terms for the same things, at least in wireless network.
anyway your config seems ok. what i see in your e7 screenshots is that you're using EAP-PEAP-MSCHAP with a trusted CA. this is the most common combination and the main one supported by MS Windows.
the CA certificate "mobility root ca mobility" is not a "public" CA, so N9 doesn't trust it. N9 should ask you if you trust this CA and then allow to connect. but N9 doesn't seem to behave this way.
then you have to manually import this CA (settings > security > certificates > add) to allow N9 to trust it. you need the certificate in a file (pem, der, p12 etc).
ask your network admin to provide you with.
good luck

Hi,
Thanks alot for much detailed info. I have the certificate file (.cer format) and i have installed it through (settings > security > certificates > add). In WLAN configuration, N9 is not showing any certificate. However in E7, after installing, certificate is shown in WLAN configuration. I have attached some screen shots for your info.

hi
i think this item in GUI is made to provide a "client" certificate, which is not an option in EAP-PEAP. this is why the list is empty, because you don t have any client cert. then you should leave it blank, which is allowed.
is your custom "mobility" CA correctly displayed in certificate list ?
you should now be able to sign in your wireless network, if it still doesn't work, it is definitely a bug

Hi,
In the above screen shots you can view that "Mobily Root CA" is appearing in the certificates list but i can connect to wireless network. Its definitely a bug. It was existing in PR1.0 and same status in PR1.1. Is there any chance that it will be solved in PR1.2 coz i am sick of it. Does nokia know of this bug in Meego? How can inform them?

Still not resolved in PR1.2
I am going to hate this phone now. No video calls, can not connect to wireless network and limited set of apps. I could have purchased the IPHONE in same price but now i am regretting my decision.
