I can't figure out how to change the ring tone from the Nokia Tune to my mp3 song that I already put in the phone. Also I want every contact to have a different melody. Don't know how to do it. Does any one know how to do this?

Hi,

To change the tone; tap Application menu - Settings - Profiles - Ringing tone - More. Then browse to your mp3 file and select Done - Save and thats it.

Currently not possible to assing different tones to individual contacts.

Actually, you do not need to tap Save when you change the ringing tone. That is only needed to save the ringing tone volume. So, you only need to tap Done after selecting the tone, or mp3 file in this case.

just make sure you have the device unplugged from the computer otherwise the files will not show up

I don't get it - I open Settings and in the Personalization section I click Profiles, I only get an uninteresting screen with the title "Profiles" with the two profiles Silent and General, and the only thing I'm able to select is Vibrate on/off, and there's a Save button.

No sign of any other settings. Am I in the wrong place, or is something else wrong?

Those vibrate buttons are the top of a list. Use your finger to scroll up to reveal more options underneath.

How embarassing!

When I used the pointing pen on the scrollbar I had no difficulties finding the rest of the settings :-/

I started out using my fingers, and with this particular panel, that was (close to) impossible...

The scroll bars you see in maemo aren't actually scroll bars.. you don't need the stylus to scroll, you can very easily use your finger to scroll

See this picture.. Place your finger in the red circle and drag upwards and the other options will appear

Assigning a different ringtone for different / each contact is NOT possible !

actually boss m havin newly nokia n900 i dont find any option to change the ringtone please help me out.

and one more problem i also dont find any sim option like airtel live or else can u tell me where is it located

Open settings

select profiles

bottom left it says "Ringing tone"

tap that and you can change your ring tone

press more to add your own tone

the screen you shown in your picture doesnt appear same in my phone

its like select profile general and silent no other space between them

That image is from an older firmware..

Open the profiles setting then press CTRL+P

It will save a screen shot in the images folder on your phone.. Use your PC to copy the picture off and attach it to a reply here..
