if you are coming from an e-device, then this would make sense.
when you open your email (@) icon, then tap the top bar (menu), new account>next>service providor>Nokia Messaging>Done>Next....
....then finish with entering your credentials for Nokia messagig you have and it should be fine.
it is included already with the mail client in the n900

I also had this problem with Nokia Messaging not showing up in the list of providers when configuring a new mail account in the mail application. In my case it turned out that this happened because there was no sim card in the device. After I inserted the sim card and tried again to configure my mail account, the Nokia Messaging option was present in the list of providers.

I have a theory about this. Without a sim, you don't get Nokia Messaging. With some sims you do get the option, with other sims you don't (at least that is what I am reading on various forums). My guess is that it only appears when you have a sim from a provider of which Nokia knows for sure / has agreements with that the ports necessary for running Nokia Messaging are open on that provider's network.
As I said, just a theory...

Same happend with me but then I just changed the sim card and then it appeared then I configured one email so that Nokia Messaging stays and then I had put back my original Sim and it works great.
