N900 Lock Code and Pin Code Issue

Hi,

I am having a problem and need expert help on that.

I recently lost my N900 which had Pin Code and Lock Code enabled. Now following are my queries.

1. Is it possible to bypass the lock code somehow? My phone required Lock code everytime it was turned ON.

2. After lock code, my phone required pin code. Is there any way to bypass both codes i.e.lock code and pin code?

3. Is it possible for someone to get access to the data in the built-in memory if he doesn't have lock code and pin code?

4. If somehow the phone is flashed, is it still possible to access/retrieve the data in built-in memory?

I will be grateful if some expert could respond. I am just really worried about the data my phone contained.

Thanks.

Just to add further, my lost phone was turned off soon after I lost it.

Re: N900 Lock Code and Pin Code Issue

they could gain access to your mass storage memory if they flashed it, however flashing it usually requires an emmc flash unless they flash it to the same version it was already on... they would need to know what version it was running to do this so its unlikely they would just flash the os, they won't get access to your facebook, twitter, email accounts etc... or your contacts but they could see your pictures, video's music and anything else you saved to the mass memory

Re: N900 Lock Code and Pin Code Issue

Hi Matthew,

Thanks very much for your response. What I understand is that the phone will be most likely flashed with eMMC flash method. Lock code will be gone this way and the phone will be restored to factory default settings. However, still the mass memory data will be intact and accessible. Please correct me if I am mistaken. This is worrying me.

Now referring to the situation I mentioned in my earlier posts, in what case the mass memory will be entirely wiped out?

Similarly, lets consider that the data is intact and accessible, is there any possibility to retrieve the files that I deleted a month back or so? Will it be just like hooking up the N900 with PC in mass storage mode and running some file retrieval software?

and my final query; if I get the IMEI of my N900 blocked by authorities, is it possible to over-write IMEI?

I will be really thankful for your expert opinion.

Re: N900 Lock Code and Pin Code Issue

Unless they are smart enjoy to figure our how to:

1. Figure our you can flash it
2. Figure out the white to obtain the flasher
3. Figure out what files to download
4. Figure out the process to actually flash the device

Then I think you are pretty safe to think they will most likely to just seek the device.

Now to your question of data,

If they only flash the is and not the vanilla file, then all three data that was on the memory will still be there in the /home/user/MyDocs.

Anything you deleted is gone.. ..so you should not need to worry about it.

Now for reporting the imei. ...it would be. IMO a waste of time trying to get it blocked. It has all the frequencies of the right carriers so even iF you were able to get it blocked, it would only be that carrier.

Kudos are to the Above to the LEFT, Solution is Below to the RIGHT
