I have just contacted a Nokia Store to enquire as to maximising the number of Apps available to me. They advised me to pop in as they could increase the catalogues in my file manager, so increasing the number of apps available. It may be some time before I can get there, can anybody help?
How long before the N900 gets free satnav like al the symbian handsets?

What catalogues do you have on your phone already?
Open app manager, tap the top of the screen, select catalogues.. Which can you see?
No one knows when a decent version of Ovi maps will make it onto Maemo 5. Nokia are being quite quiet about this.. so it could be some time..

Another thing, did you research before you purchased the device?
This is the one mistake a lot of people have made when buying the N900. Its not a symbian based device or an iphone, and never will be.

I've found that there's no definite number of "Repositories" as each time you download an app from a site the phone adds that site to the list of repositories.
But I think the number of Maemo repositories is 3: Extras; Extras-testing; Extras-devel. Then you've got the Nokia Applications; Nokia System Software Updates; Ovi; Maemo.org.
In my list I've got 2 extras: GeexBox; Rightwave.
Found a list in this thread here: Repositories
