Its just an authentication error and or the n9 unable to resolve the smtp server. I had the same problem after flashing my N9 to the new PR1.1
Just delete the Yahoo Mail id from the devices accounts and add again.

hi..
noticed the same prob that can't send email w yahoo on N9
this was the solution i found to work:
1. Just add yahoo mail account as other mail account's automatically
2. You need to change the setting's on the outgoing mail server only to this one:
server type: SMTP
username: (your yahoo user@yahoo.com)
server address: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
secure connection
SL
port: 465
secure authentication: Plain password
and now u will be ready to send email...i did struggle w the settings a while to find this one to work...

I had the exact same problem. New emails to be sent remained in outbox and the phone reported an error for the mail transfer. Indeed changing the outgoing mail server from nokia-free.smtp.mail.yahoo.com to just smtp.mail.yahoo.com ficed it...is nokia-free.smtp.mail.yahoo.com anyway?? I guess it's the exceptional result of the long ago announced ccollaboration between Nokia and Yahoo: so great that it a simple mail conf

I'm in Germany using a Nokia N9 and a T-Mobile SIM
I cannot send or receive emails using my Yahoo account.
I've tried with and without "nokia-free" prefix but still it says "Unable to connect"
Using wifi it works great.

I am also having same issue while sending emails from nokia email(former ovi mail).
Tried all possible suggestions and still no luck.
If I understand correctly, N9 also has issues whilev sending Yahoo mail as well?

My N9 used to work properly but after PR1.2 email (send) stopped working as described in this thread. It just keeps asking password, and then fails to send the email. Really, really annoying.
I’ve tried re-setups, different server names, etc. but no help. Folks, any advice?
