Hi,
Just bough myself N9 and i just love it. One thing i noticed thouhg, that bothers me a bit, are the black areas or spots visible on dark grey backgrounds. If you start the camera on a dark room, you will notice the black spots. Is this a common issue on N9? Should i ask for a replacemet device?

Experiencing with the same issue. I have black lines on the dark grey display when phone is switching on, camera on, multitasking view (no or one/two applications on), dashboard view when empty.
I have contacted Nokia Hungary to figure the issue out. It seems to be unbelievable why such a small display like 3.9 cannot be homogeneous!
Image just found on internet but the problem fairly similar (hard to be taken by camera).
Keep you posted

Hi all,
It sounds like you have dead pixels on your screen.
Have you tried visiting your local Nokia Care Point for inspection of your device? Especially if it may be a hardware issue.

Yeah, I contacted them by email first and then went to Nokia Care Point. They are going to replace the display. If everything goes well, new display arrives this week and they fix the issue.
I will let you know when done.

OLED display were replaced by Nokia Care point Today. Unfortunately, new display was not free from similar defect:
- 2 dark streaks were noticable only
- but these 2 streaks exactly to where on original display are also located
It must be a hardware issue, indeed!
My N9 is being investigated by Central Nokia Care (where Nokia Care point has sent). I was told it would take 6-8 business days before I got final answer in this matter.
Let you know when I have received any feedback from Nokia, anyway.

Hello ohooho,
Now, I am in touch with Customer Care because I have made a complaint.
If you take a look at my post sent yesterday, you can see that I received the same answer from Nokia Care Point (supported with a report) where they replaced the display at least.
Customer Care wants to investigate my N9 as professional as possible after my complaint sent. Let's see what happens next.
I would suggest you do the same and contact Nokia Customer Care online in your country.
Regards,
budapest

My phone has the same problem. The black spots and lines are visuable in dark room. I got a 16GB black singapore version. I checked my friend's N9. His is the same. He got a UAE 16 GB version. I guess this is quite common in N9.

Hello Coldwaves,
What happens if we are talking about a "N9-series display problem". The first series of N9 is suffering from this sort of display defect.
The problem is a little bit more than a minor issue because you can see it when you are watching a video in the evening without direct or indirect light at home. This is very odd, indeed!
Probably there are 2 types of users who use the phone in the evening and notice some minor issue with black screen and who does not care with it. But the problem does exist apart from user's habit, anyway.

I have a good news: Nokia has sorted the issue out with replacement of 2 hardwares:
- Care dipsplay assy(I00004 - I0005), code: 0089T89
- Sensor flex assy, code: 02698F1
I appreciate that.
Thank you Nokia![]()

I found the same sort of thing on my N9 (attached screenshot). I bought my Swiss N9 from Expansys in the UK and after I described the problem to them on the phone and e-mailed a few photos, they arranged for a replacement.
