Mail deleted on desktop persists on phone

I wonder if I might have set up the sync wrong or something, because when my N9 checks the email server (IMAP) and pulls the latest emails all is fine, and when I then delete the emails on the phone they also disappear on the server according to all my other e-mail clients and webmail.

BUT when I delete an email on eg my webmail or desktop client and it has already been seen by the N9 it is not removed from the N9. So I'm guessing that the phone never really synchronizes with the e-mail server but rather just checks for the latest arrived messages. Very annoying. Can I fix this somehow?

hmm... have you given it time to actually sync?

did you try to manually sync?

have you rebooted just to check?

i have pop/imap/exchange accounts on my n9 and the imap/exchange work fine from any direction.

what is the account type? ie-yahoo/gmail/ymail/etc.

Re: Mail deleted on desktop persists on phone

Its a hosted IMAP server. Not freemail thus. And yes, there has been plenty of time for the phone to catch up. I have spam-messages from the beginning of january still on the phone which were deleted on the desktop same day as they arrived.

Re: Mail deleted on desktop persists on phone

As I know, Nokia Messaging needs an Idle (Push) account to check the actual Inbox/folder status but not the new contents only.
So I think you might have to essure that your service provider supports push services.

Re: Mail deleted on desktop persists on phone

I too have the same problem on my N9. Mails that I delete when I connect through my E7/laptop; still appear on the N9.

Also mails that I delete on my N9 doesn't disappear from the other phones. The laptop and E7 are very much in sync though.

And I use only gmail.
