Re: Facebook on N900 >:(

it really annoys me because it was one of the main factors which made me get this phone over the **bleep** iphone, because of its full web browsing capabilities, rather than the iphone's **bleep** attempt of everything because it is #$@%

I can't even login now, without being told my account is under maintenance. I'm then redirected to the mobile page and it all goes mammaries skyward from there on.:smileymad:

Re: Facebook on N900 >:(

It's a pain but if you go to the bottom right of the mobile site, click on the touch site and then once on the touch site at the bottom of that site you get the option to click on full site. It's 2 clicks but still it gets you there!

Re: Facebook on N900 >:(

Got it back by following the above. Dunno how long it'll be before they botch it up again.:smileymad: Did try last night but it kept throwing me back to the mobile site.

I see they're doing a merger with 2 more well known social networking sites.

Eventually they'll be known as "Mytwitface" :smileytongue:

Who is?

Speaking of which though, does anyone find the lack of integrated social networking one of the big minuses of maemo 5? Like motoblur for the new Motorolas etc, where updates are pushed to the homescreen?

Re: Facebook on N900 >:(

its probably just tempory, i've selected the widget a few times and been taken to the full site so it seems to be hit and miss, its just 90% miss at the moment but for now all you need to do is save a NEW bookmark for the full site as you might find that any old bookmarks you have saved direct you to the mobile site - this is probably why the widget isn't working as well

I also went through the "Help Centre" and reported it through the "Mobile" link in the "Facebook Applications and Features" section. Click "Bugs and known problems" and then click "My bug is not listed above".After the message gets sent i just clicked my back button then resent the message again (numerous times i may add)  why dont we all try this lol and see how long it takes Facebook to return things back to how they were. All the videos previewing the N900 before it went on sale show it running full Facebook so why did Facebook decide to change things.Lets hope Nokia too lend a hand in trying to get things changed

Re: Facebook on N900 >:(

This is how i did it. First off clear all browsing history and even a bookmark that you might have for facebook. Then go to facebook. it will send you to the m.facebook.com. from there their should be a link to the touch site, or to full site etc. if you dont see full site, go to touch site, and from their go to full site link. During this time do not login at all. Finally you will end up at what you see on computer desktop with login at the top right. bookmark that page. then clear history again. from now on it will go to real facebook.

Hope it works for you too!

Re: Facebook on N900 >:(

Yeah, I noticed this over the weekend too (and still happening now).  The Widget is the issue, to a degree.  Clicking on that goes to the Mobile version of FB.  I hadn't updated it recently, so why it's happened has baffled me.

I've uninstalled and re-installed the widget, but that hasn't fixed it.

Clearing the Temp Internet files and then going to www.facebook.com still takes me to the Mobile version.

Going to Touch and then to the Full will get me there, but saving that page to the Desktop instead of the widget doesn't always work either, it seems.

Not happy that this has occurred... :smileymad:

Nothing to do with Nokia. It's good old Mr Suckerburger himself. As far as Nokia is concerned we CAN view the full FB and use chat on the N900. It's just that the FB crew are completely devoid of any grey matter.

Its affecting Windows Mobile devices as well, my mum tested it on her Tosh TG01 yesterday and reported the same happening to her.

Facebook are classing anything that isn't a desktop or a laptop computer as a mobile device it would seem

Re: Facebook on N900 >:(

you all need to find a way to the full site and sign in, then create a new bookmark,
you'll notice that its a different address to your old bookmark

Re: Facebook on N900 >:(

Still get thrown back to the Mobile site whatever you do.

I've fired another broadside Facebook's way, seeing as I haven't got a response from the last one, see if we get anything then.
