I have N6630 but its locked and maybe its SIM phone is locked too.. is there anybody can help me to unlock it? i really wanna use it..

My network is 3in the uk. I rang 3 for the code who say they do not have them. I then rang nokia who say they do not have them but 3 do. Back to 3 who then put my on a conference call with themselves and nokia. It appears that nokia do have then but theres a procedure for 3 to request them. Ok says the manager from 3 what is the procedure for us to request an unlock code, don't no reply nokia ! Come on nokia pull your finger out and tell 3 how to request an unlock code. IAN

I have a Nokia N70 excellent Handset, Have requested unlock code from vodafone, who say Nokia have the code and we request it from them. Nokia tell you only the serivce provider can give you the code. For God sake who has the codes service Provider or Nokia, Vodafone are the worst for getting things done.

My cousin brought cell phone Nokia 6630 from London but when he reached to Pakistan the mobile was giving an error that sim card not valid or its showing offline status i rang my local cell services provider they were said that you have to unlock your fone or ur phone is unlock by ur london services provider so plz tell me how can i unlock my phone.

look, this is getting ridiculous. there have been nearly a hundred posts on this one subject alone. there is even a sticky from the moderator telling you how to get an unlock code. its about time this subject was finished.

if you need an unlock code, you need to contact the network the phone has come from to get it.

Why would nokia withold the code from you. They have nothing to gain by hiding this information. Then again, you're roped into a contract with your network until they supply you with the unlock code.

Who's making the money here? Nokia or the network

Hay i'm facing the same problem with m nokia N6630. i took the nobile from the T-mobile and used it while i was in UK. But now i am in Dubai for few months. and i cant use my phone over here. Coz the phone is giving a massage saying "Sim card is invalied". please tell me what can i do with this problem.

sim card invalid means there is an issue with the sim itself, again you would need to contact your network that issued the sim.

like the post at the top of this page says, you need to contact the network for unlocking info

I might also add that networks are not legally obliged to release an unlock code until the handset is over a year old as it would breach the contract that the customer has signed up for... that may be another reason the networks can withold the codes without letting on.

They may have the codes but just not let on that they do since they want to keep people on their network.

so how come you can ring up the network and ask for the restriction code? granted they may charge you if the phone is brand new but they still do it.

if your network doesnt give you the information just say youwill contact ofcomm. as for breaking a contract, ignore that. as long as you are paying your bill every month youhavent broken the contract in the networks eyes.

so what you are saying is i'll have to stay for a one year to get the lock code. But i went in to the local(Dubai) Nokia aegent and told him the problem. what he suggested is to change some heardware which costs me about 200$. It's kind of stupid to spend that much on my used mobile. So you guys think there's anything to do with this matter.

given that this is a uk board i havent got a clue as to what goes on in dubai.

no one has told anyone to wait for one year to get the unlock code (if they have they are wrong). however the prevailing advice is to contact the network for your unlock code. its in a sticky, its been said a lot and event the admins for this board have said it. dont go to your retailer just ring the network up for the code. if it was bought in the UK they will give it to you, maybe for a charge, but they will give it to you never the less.

I'm currently with 3 and they refuse or unwilling to give the codes for the Nokia 6680,6630,N70. They will give everyone the runaround i.e Call Club Nokia,Contact C.P.W etc etc.
I understand that they want too keep there customers using the 3 network. But customers will just take thier custom to networks that are more open minded i.e O2 the 6680 and N70 are unlocked from purchase.

You can have your n6630 unlocked by 3 but theres a charge for it, i found out by phoning 3 and they said it will cost £150 to unlock it

Hi Just had a call from G3 in Scotland this afternoon after my complaint to Ofcom. G3 have told me that THEY CAN NOT Unlock the Nokia 6630 as they are in a Dispute with Nokia and that its down to NOKIA that they CAN NOT unlock the Nokia 6630. NOKIA will not give G3 the unlock Codes until The DISPUTE is sorted.
I was told that at no time should The Indian Call-Centre in Delhi have told me the cost is £150 to unlock the nokia 6630 as they don’t even have any way to unlock the Nokia 6630 and they were wrong to say they could G3 are send me a Letter to Confirm this in writing so keep looking as I will post a copy in here. I am still continuing with my complaint with Ofcom just for the hell of it for all the other G3 owners more of us should complain to Ofcom as they were successful in getting G3 in the UK to telephone me with-in-24 hours of my first complaint.

unfortunately it looks as if 3 are not being truthful with you.

there have been a lot of threads on this issue so far, all of them have come to the conclusion that the network offers unlock codes and not nokia. (in fact one thread mentioned that 3 have the equipment to do this, but some of it has broken down)

if i were you i would pursue the ofcom complaint, this will help you get to the bottom of your unlock code issue.

Well what do you think of this then I have just received a reply back from NOKIA as STATED BELOW

Thank you for contacting Nokia Helpline.

With regard to your email concerning Unlock Codes, it is our understanding that the 3 network does not currently have the ability to unlock phones but should have this in the near future. Unlock codes would have to come from the network to which the phone is attached. This is their responsibility.
