A drink was spilled on my phone, and it gives the same problem, this combined with the facts that in the other case, where the camera, the flex cable and the firmware weren't the problem, I think a component on the print is damaged.
I have this same problem, so if anyone has more info, Please respond!
Everyone with this problem will thank you!

Please read http://www.mobile-review.com/articles/2009/5800-br
Some pieces in the phones are amazingly vulnerable to moisture etc., as a result: some components in the phone can break eventhough you haven't touched them at all!!
Hope this helps, please everyone who has an idea, tip or link, post it! everything can help! everyone who has this problem will thank you!

If updating the firmware doesn't help, try downgrading it. I'm going to downgrade it to V12, and i'll let everyone know what the results are.
Please post your suggestions

You'll have to bring your phone to a store or to nokia, because you can't do it yourself. Special flashing kits have to be used,

I'm getting more and more convinced that downgrading, in some cases, will be able to solve the problems.

This guy has had a problem with wlan AFTER firmware updating.
If any of you guys solved the problem after downgrading or have anything else, no matter how small, please tell, as it can help a lot of people!
Thanks!

Beside downgrading your firmware, replacing the flex cable might work, especially in my case where, after spilling as drink ONLY the 2nd camera and earpiece stopped working. I checked and there was indeed corrosion on this piece. So if you have spilled water on your phone, this is, i'm 90% convinced, the solution. If not, that is: your phone's earpiece or 2nd camera stopped working after a firmware update, i'm 99% sure downgrading is going to solve it!
Let me know if you've got some tips, registering here is very easy, it takes 10 seconds, after that, you can answer and type messages here

I had a similar problem on my nokia n78("Unexpected error occurred. Power off the device and restart."). But I found out that it was because I did not have enough free space to store photos.
So, first check if you have enough free memory and also in the camera, goto settings and select restore camera settings (I have these settings on n78, so I hope you'll have on n95 also)

Someone told me to upgrade the firmware... I did so... But still am facing the same problem... I have another software called Panoman... I am able to take pictures through that software... Whereas if I open the Camera software I get the error message....

i have this problem too in n78. by the way all cameras not working after that. I have to say i send my n78 to service in Turkey. I got back after 2 months. They reported me like "camera and decoder chip changed" only after 1 month this happened again. I believe all Nokia services in Turkey could not repair it. Expecially after read this forum i trust this.

I have the same problem and it is driving me CRAAAAZZZZYYY! I've tried almost everything, the next thing I guess ill try is to open up the phone and maybe replace the flash or I don't know im still not sure.
Has anyone tried replacing the flash or camera yet? Its definitely a flash problem because everyone who has this problem also has the blinking flash battery on the top left corner when they open up the camera.
I also tried to use the flash because sometimes i can take a picture really quickly before the "unexpected error" message comes up but it wouldn't flash, it will only take picture without a flash....hmmm interesting no? I has to be a problem with the flash malfunctioning.
everybody I've talked to (including nokia service) has recommended that I update the software using nokia software updater but I HAVE ALREADY, and I am sure it is at the latest firmware. the one that ends in 016.
IF ANYONE CAN HELP ID CONSIDER SENDING YOU MONEY!! heh, no seriously I would be so grateful if anyone has understood this problem. (PS. i have a nokia n82)

gdegas001, I'm inclined to your suggestion.
I'm not using the N95, but my N82 is spitting the same error message.
I think I have the latest firmware V31.0.016 (not sure if this is latest or not).
I have also done *#7370# follow by 12345 to reset the phone.
I have also changed the following: from silver to black to gold and now back to black housing! Of course in doing that, I've changed several keypad flexes.
Ok I'll cut to the chase, I think I've demaged the flash (or it's flex) after changing the facet 4 times!![]()
It is on my latest N82 face change that I received the "Unexpected error...". And of course it is the first time I notice the blinking flash battery (in the manual, this means the flash is charging!). Now it is ok if the flash is charging after it fired a few times, but a blinking flash indicator followed by the "Unexpected error.." is likely to mean that the flash is not charging or dead.
I'm going to buy the flash unit (about $30 on eBay) for replacement and see if my (or your's) suspicion is correct. Will update you all soon.
Of course the "Unexpected error.." can mean many things, the flash issue is just one of them. So don't even think about changing the flash unless you always see the blinking flash indicator first. Another reason for getting the "Unexpected error..." is if you have changed your housing for your phone at least 3 times, by yourself! ![]()

Hmph.
For what it's worth I will tell my story of woe.
Phone was looking scrathced and old. I bought a cheap cover.
Paid to get someone to replace cover. They said they had fixed it, but couldn't get the flash to work after putting it all together. That the phone would not start if theflash was connected and so needed to put it all back together without flash.
I said **bleep** to that - just give me the thing back (in pieces) and I'll put it together again.
I reckon they switched the flash module or broke it, cause sure enough the phone would only work when the flash was not connected. The dreaded "unexpected error occurred. power off the device and restart" would occur after only ten seconds of camera action. So I bought another flash module from ebay. Phone now works with flash mdule connected, but the flash still doesn't work and i still get the error message.
I don't see how it can be a software problem and have not bothered hard reset. I just think the place i took it to were dodgy ... at least they didn't break the display which is what i was worried i'd do if i tried myself.
Think I'll just buy myself a new phone for birthday. I like the N85 actually. I don't really like the look of the N97.
Anyway,
Problem not solved.

1)Started main camera , took a picture and deleated it
2)After i deleted the picture i switched to front camera , but when presed to switch to front camera after like 1 second i pushed the middle button to take picture and woila it started to work , but it stoped again
