Nokia N97 mini not accepting unlock codes

Hi guys,

I have this Nokia N97 mini that I bought from France, locked on Orange France. I wanted to have it unlocked, I talked to Orange France and they provided me with two unlocking codes but none of them worked, phone displays someting like 'Not accepted' (not sure though of the message). Could be that the phone is now 'bricked'  probably because previous owner has tried to unlock it several times before and if yes what should I do next? I can not send it to repair centre since I don't have the proof of purchase (bought it off the web).

Thanks for your help.

Re: Nokia N97 mini not accepting unlock codes

It should not be 'bricked', it should be 'blocked', ie. permanently locked. You should be able to get a proof of purchase from Orange, but you shouldn't need that either, to send it to the unblocking centre.

Re: Nokia N97 mini not accepting unlock codes

NOT ALLOWED implies your phone was blocked before you tried putting in the code. It should say CODE ERROR the first few times if you never tried it before.
