Nokia 5800xm dead

Hi guys, i know there's alot of toppics about this problem, i kept reading them, but i couldn't find the correct sollution. I have my nokia for a year now, it worked fine and i love it! - friend told me i can update my software, and i did. v5 i think, from v21 or something like that, can't remember. It worked fine for a day, next morning i woke up and it was dead, when i try to turn it on it just makes a little vibration ( like the one when you use the touch screen ) and nothing happens. And even if it turns on, dies at the NOKIA label or the handshake and dead again - oh and when i charge and try to turn it on: it it shows a little tab - 'start-up failed, contact .. '.Any help please? Because i'm starting to panic. ;/ *

* sorry for my bad english, i'm from Europe.

1. Did you try leaving your battery out for at least 5 mins?

2. You may want to try the following:

Press green + red + multimedia button and turn the phone on at the same time. Wait until the "NOKIA" logo appears. But note that you will lose your data...

Yeah, i took out sim, memory and the battery and left on the table for a day. And nothing. And how long should i keep presing this combo? Because i tried it, but it vibrates couple times one vibrate, second after 15 secs and so on.

After one vibrate, leave the On/Off button. But keep pressing the other three keys till the NOKIA logo appears.

Well when it vibrates the first time i stop pushing on/off button, but no NOKIA sign, black screen :smileysad:

Any other ideas? Can a `Mobile Service Center fix this issue? - I'm not talking about Nokia, because i don't think there's a Nokia center or something like that in Lithuania.

Re: Nokia 5800xm dead

I would suggest you visit a Nokia Care point but from the time there is no one near you, take your 5800 to another mobile repair shop (as this is your only option).

But the problem is fixable? I'm not the only one that got this problem after updating my software, same signs*?

(phone is dead, couple vibrates or sometime stops at nokia sign, shows a tab with 'startup failed' and etc.)* And thanks for the replies!

I don't think you are doing the Hard Reset properly..You may refer this...

.. and try it again..

..... and Yes, the problem should be fixable by flashing the firmware..

Re: Nokia 5800xm dead

I'm sure, i'm doing it right. green + red + camera + off/on. and nothing happens, just a little vibrate. i'm doing it without my sim/memory card. i tried flashing it on my own, but i gave up, too complicated..

Flashing on your own will void the warranty.. but the more serious implication will be.. if something goes wrong.. the phone will become irrepairable..

BTW.. regarding the Hard Reset, I am sorry if I thought it that way but there are many posts on this forum.. where users have mentioned that they got it RIGHT after many attempts.. (..though what is done may seems OK everytime..)
