Apparently after rebooting my phone, my N97 Mini does not start up, instead, it shows a white screen with the word "NOKIA" and it's stuck there forever.

Googled the issues and I am not the only one who faces this problem, but the thing is, people cannot seem to find any solutions to this, I was hoping to get assistance over here. True enough I can bring my cellphone to the nearest Nokia Care Center, but how many times do I have to face this? And I'm lucky to have a spare phone with me, otherwise, travelling is going to be a problem for me because my phone is my essential.

Anybody has any solution to this?

I would like to report the EXACT same problem.

I am also on my 3rd handset now =(

When the phone works , its the best phone ive had, but this is failing too often now.

i would like to say I have the same problem.

I got the phone a week ago and the phone just turned off and when I turned it back on the screen just comes up white with the word NOKIA on it.

I've encountered "stucked forever with white screen Nokia logo" problem for more than 5 times since I bought Nokia Mini for one month.It's really frustrating in the beginning. I know this will randomly happen. Well, it just happened again 2 days ago. 

Here is my quick fix to undermine the impact. 

1. Bought a 8GB SDHC card for mini. 

2. Put all my favourite softwares' SIGNED sources (*.sisx) in SD card (F: drive in File manger).

3. Randomly backup Setting, Message, Contacts, Calendar in SD card.

   I don't backup "Files" since I don't know what kind of files it backups and sometimes those files are large. 

4.1 If the mini DEAD again(freezes at NOKIA booting logo), then Hard-Reset the N97 mini. 

4 2 Go to backup Fucntion to restore your previous backups. (i.e. Setting, Message, Contacts, Calendar)

4.3 Go to File Manager and install your favourite softwares again from the SD card. 

To install softwares directly from SD card is much faster and easier then from PC/Laptop. 

Especially, when mini dead on the go or during the trip, you won't be worried about NO PC besides you.

ps. I don't put softwares and backups in Mass Memory because I may format it when needed.

Although "Crash" thing is still bothering sometimes, the quick fix makes me feel better(safe !?) and I still love using Mini.

Hi, just bought a Nokia N97 mini and it keeps restarting very often for absolutely no reason. I am completely fed up of this. Never ever would want to buy a Nokia Phone again.

Omg! Just 2 days into my new N97 Mini.... just felt like switching it off and on and I encountered the White boot-up "failure"

The handshake never came on... hard reset it a few times.... could be some nasty programs from the Ovi store that Nokia failed to monitor on its compatibility. If the store said its software compatible for it... then shouldn't it be Nokia responsibility since it caused a whole lot of mess after.

I believe you can 't simply copy a load of songs directly too costhe software will not be able to linl up nicely. Just my guess please correct me if I am wrong/ In any case....I dare not install new stuff and switch off my phone thanks Nokia

I have had this phone for almost a week and i've been faced with the white screen start up problem. I downloaded a few apps from your ovi store and I find after a few short hours the phone has shoot down & stuck on the nokia logo with a white screen in background. Now i'm reading I may loose all the data I have on the phone & further more I won't be able to use it. I ask what do I do for a phone now? I have had no problems with nokias in the past & I appreciate that I haven't had a nokia phone as hi-tech as this but 1 week into using the phone I'm getting this. (Ridiculous).

How do I fix it Nokia?

I've had my N97 mini on Vodafone UK and all was OK for a couple of months.  Then I was just copying some songs onto the phone and it hung up.  Waited for 30 mins for it to sort itself out but then turned it off.  When I restarted, the phone froze on the white screen with the words Nokia (it never gets to the handshake).  Finally found the only fix was a hard reset which was very annoying as it lost all of my messages stored on the mass memory, despite restoring the phone from a backup made the previous day.  This hang up on restart is now regularly happening and I'm getting pretty fed-up with it.  Having done some further research, this problem seems to be common with the N97 mini and the N97 with the v2 firmware (same as v1 N97 mini I believe).  So this is a firmware issue and Nokia need to fix it quick.  I got an N95 as soon as they came out and, despite the initial slowness and poor battery life, the phone worked and Nokia eventually fixed these issues with a software update after 7 months.  With the N97 mini we can't wait 7 months; the phone is effectively useless now.  Nokia you must release a firmware update that fixes this ASAP.

Hi. i am facing the same problem.My phone always get reboot failure and need to hard format.But i have discover y this phone will always reboot failure.Is because the theme effect,the theme effect will cause the phone reboot failure after turn it on.

Please try to off it after hard format n pls dun ever try to turn the theme effect on or when u wan to off the phone pls turn the theme effect off first.

PLEASE TRY and tell me the result.

*TAKE EVERYTHING OUT THE PHONE.

*PUT BATTERY IN THE PHONE

*PUT THE CHARGER IN THE PHONE, THE MINUTE YOU SEE THE LIGHT COME ON, TAKE THE CHARGER OUT

*THE PHONE WILL TURN OFF

*THIS TIME TURN THE PHONE ON WITHOUT THE CHARGER, THE MINUTE YOU SEE LIGHT PUT THE CHARGER BACK IN AND LEAVE IT THERE TILL YOU SEE THE MAGIC HAPPENING(YOUR PHONE WILL COME TO LIFE AGAIN)

Avoided the hard reset, ... but same issue just after when trying the reboot : this phone has never to be switched off.

Nokia is not anymore at the right level of standard, really disappointing.

@MuhsinMoeJoe : that worked for me too. I have a N97.

I had an issue a few weeks back to which I posted a new thread on this forum. The issue was the same (got stuck on startup). Someone suggested removing the memory card, this did the trick. BUT, this time round after having removed the memeroy card it didn't work!....your trick did the job. Must be a firmware issue. Nokia need to sort it out quickly because it's very frustrating!

OMG - I am having the same issue with the white screen of death on my M97 mni!  Happened last night and looking for a solution now online.... BUT sadly MuhsinMoeJoe's tip hasn't worked for me

Ok.... so I tried the plug USB in, unplug USB, etc type instructions and those did not work for me.  In the end I had to reset the phone using the "4 button" technique (i.e. when off, hold down shift, space, backspace and power on and hold those 4 buttons till it starts properly).

On the plus side the phone now works, I have my music, pics and most of the apps I downloaded.

On the negative side I have lost all my contacts and text messages!
