Hi every one
I have terrible problem with my Nokia 5800 xm LCD ,
When I lock the phone,I have to try 2-10 times to unlock it correctly
when I lock , the lcd turns off , the problem is when LCD wants to turns on ,
it doesnt turn on correctly , it shows vertical lines and cant see anything ,
I try to lock/unlock it some other time,to show correctly ,
when it showed correctly,it doesnt have any problem until I turn it lock it again.
firmware : 11.008
I think it must be cause of light sensor , not sure ,
when I tested it, light sensor temprature by normal is about 80C and it goes up some times to 108C degree ,
Is it possible to completly disable light sensor ?
where can I download "nokia 5800 repair and service manual" ?
there is a pair sensor between light sensor front camera , what are they ?
----------
what should I have to do with this problem ?
I reFlashed the device, but problem still exists.
Thanks.

Just take it to a nokia care point and they will check it out for you under warranty.
Any attempt to repair on investigate yourself will void the warranty and most likely cause more damage.
It is against the rules of this forum to help you with self repair or obtaining service manuals.
Care points/service centres and repair info:
UK • Europe • Asia-Pacific • USA •
Canada • Middle East and Africa
Elsewhere: Click here, select your country, go to the support section, then select repair.

As mentioned above it's a hardware fault.
Return it to the retailer or a nokia care point.

i bought a 5800 on 13/02/09 and on the first day's night, a vertical line of pixels shut down so i took it to a nokia care point and they changed my phone with a new one in no time. yesterday (18/02) night, i sent an sms to friend, put phone on the table, its light turned off after a while normally, then i connected the usb cable to my pc to transfer a file from the phone to pc, then i connected the other and to my phone, the lights turned on and the lcd was in a very bad colour, not straight lines, not vertical, all together, some were not geometric, i thought it was a temporary thing. i shut down the phone, re opened it, but the result was the same.. after half an hour, there has been a very very minimal improvement but still nothing can be seen or read or on the lcd.. ?? so today i am going to take it to the nokia care again, i dont know why it happened but it did... is there anyone else suffering the same problem with me?

hey,
i m facing the same problem wid myn too
c the thing is dat wen i opened teh back cover i found some sitcky liquid which had accumulated under my stylus...
i thot...okay it shud b sum internal leak cos i havent evr let the fone **bleep** in contact wid water or any other liquid fro tht mater
so wen i took it to the care centre, i showed it to them
first they kept insistin tht i had dropped it which has never happened
neway then they take it
n wen i called them today they tell me tht a liquid has entered the fone...and tht i had done tht...n they tell me dat i may have to pay fr it, which is total **bleep**.... cos i dont even no wht tht was
n if i had really dropped it in something i would have told dem str8, i wudnt have shown it to them in dis way....
neway, i'd urge all ov u to please check on ur back cover n tell me if u all foundany sort of sticky liquid too,
i mean wen i told them tht it maybe a lcd or battery leak hey r jus never ready to accept....

no sticky liquid thing after check.
i don't think this is a liquid leak issue.
but it's seems when temperature below 10 centigrade, the problem will be more likely to occur.
and if in the air-condition room i never meet this problem.
and i dont' wanna take the risk to put it into the refrigerator.

I believe there is a known issue with some 5800 screens, because my brother was having problems with his screen last week. He took it back to the Vodafone outlet and they seemed to know exactly where the problem was.
When he got it back today they told him there was a fault with the membrane.

I faced 2 problems with my 3-month old Nokia 5800 XpressMusic:
1. Ear-piece problem (cannot hear clearly)
2. "Vertical lines" appeared on the LCD screen (vertical lines only cleared off upon reboot but will happen again when screen "sleeps")
Brought my phone to Nokia Care Center, they fixed both ear-piece and LCD screen (replaced with brand-new parts), my phone's now working perfectly fine again w/out any issues.
Both are common problems for Nokia 5800; obviously, product defects by Nokia.

hey,
in fact, I face this problem with my nokia 5800 xm too..
the noise (or vertical lines) goes out when the camera flashes, or after reboot,
then it comes back when the LCD sleeeeeeeps
exactly as described.. the screen and bluetooth ear-piece (nokia brand new BH-207)
I am angry :-(

By browsing many websites I found that this LCD problem is very very common. And the problem is found all around the world, inlcuding Europe and Asia.
So I can confirm the problem is nearly a unavoidable problem.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT NOKIA DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM!
BUT NOKIA HASN'T MAKEN ANY EXPLAINATION ABOUT IT!
Many friends of mine and myself would like to buy a 5800xm, but now we daren't do.
If NOKIA won't make an explaination, but only ask the user whose phone suffered the problem to go to the Care Center, not only 5800xm, but all the product made by NOKIA I won't buy in the future. Not only I, but also people around me.
I hope NOKIA can solve this problem with wisdom.
Thanks.

I only want Nokia to make an announcement about:
1. If fhis problem has been resolved in phones produced recently
2. The reason of the problem, and how the users who has bought the phone with the problem should do.
As a big company, it is very nesscery to do such a thing, for its product. It's not difficult, isn't it?
Thanks.
