Changed N82 casing, now no sound or display

Hi, I've just changed my n82 cover following a youtube video guide and tutorial. After completion, I turned the phone on, it vibrated once on power as usual, but there was no sound or display, the phone shuts down after about 30 seconds. Also, the backlights work.

i'm pretty sure doing what u did just voided the warranty on ur phone - probably the wiring wasnt dont properly

i'd say go to a nokia care point to get an authorised nokia technician to check ur phone out but bear in mind as i mentioned ur warranty being voided, there will probably be a charge involved in repairing it

if my post helped u out, please click the Star next to it to add some KUDOS to my name :smileyvery-happy:

They are also within their rights to refuse to support altogether a phone that has been tampered with.

NEVER do anything like this unless the phone is out of the warranty period and you're prepared to risk damaging it completely.

It was already out of warranty.

OK, so there was no warranty to void any more. The NCP may still refuse to repair it even out of warranty since it has been tampered with. However, you won't know until you take it there.

Anyone got an idea on what it could be?

Re: Changed N82 casing, now no sound or display

I managed to get it working, what I did was just reconstruct it, but this time with extra caution on connections whilst using an anti-static wrist strap. The problem now is that the microphone isn't working, anyone got an idea on what that could be? Also, anyone have any idea on how to change the keypad on the UI module (the keys on the key interface).

Re: Changed N82 casing, now no sound or display

It's very common for the microphone to get damaged after people attempt self repairs.

Unfortunately no help can be give to you here as it's against the rules of this forum to discuss disassembly or self repair.

Try a nokia care point or unofficial forum for help.

Okay, well everything works now, the camera was playing up for ages too, but got that sorted out. Well, now it seems that the GPS takes forever to lock on. What's left is that problem, and the keypad replacement. I guess I'll have to go to an unofficial forum.
