Battery is going crazy!

Hi,

During the past week my phone has been randomly turning off, not even managing to play the (dum dum dum...) sound meaning that its shutting down, it just doesn't seem to have the power to.

Then 5 minutes later when I turn it on again, the battery seems to be almost full...but then 5 minutes later it dies again.

I am wondering if it is a problem with the battery or the phone? Can I get the battery replaced for free, as it is fairly new. (I do not have the reciept (bang myself in head))

Yes the battery is an original, bought at a nokia service center.

Thanks in advance,
TalJ
I own a 5210, 5140 and now..the new 3250. Symbian 60 Series OS 3.0 ..just the best.

Re: Battery is going crazy!

You need to localise where the problem lies - is it the phone or the battery ?

The easiest way to do this is if you can get hold of another battery and try it in your phone - if the problem still happens then it's likely to be your phone - otherwise it's your battery.

If it is the battery and it is less than a year old then you should be able to get it exchanged/replaced.

If it is your phone then you should take it to your local Nokia Service Centre to get repaired.

Re: Battery is going crazy!

I believe it is the battery although I cannot be sure.
The battery is less than a year old so I suppose I can get it replaced. There is a code on the battery, does nokia know when and where the battery was sold, through that code?
Thanks,
TalJ

Re: Battery is going crazy!

Follow the link below for more information about batteries :

I'm not sure whether the information Nokia keep will be as detailed as the level you have mentioned, but they should have a date of manufacture at the very least.

If you take it to your local Nokia Service Centre they MAY be able to check if the battery is at fault for you - but I'm not 100% sure so don't hold me to this ! They will at the very least be able to check if the phone is faulty which will then help you localise where the problem lies.

Re: Battery is going crazy!

Hey there,
thanks for the reply.
The solution was very very simple...snap a firmware upgrade.
It took 25 minutes and cost me 25 euros.
Battery now lasts about 5 days, while calling, listening to music and taking photos =).
