Battery Life

New Nokia N 95 with old man!

Initially I charged the battery until indicator stopped moving (3 hours). Subsequently my phone needed recharging every day for three days on tiny use and my provider instructed me that future recharging would be limited by a feature set at first charging which should have been 16 hours. My phone now thinks that three hours is a full charge regardless of its needs. I was instructed to disconnect battery and leave for 12-16 hours then start again as new but after this wait the phone simply said that it was full. I can find nothing to obliterate this battery setting from first charge and factory settings also has no effect. A new battery would presumably be affected by same limitations in phone? Anyone able to help please?

Re: Battery Life

Im afraid your provider is spinning you a tale.

The battery in your fone will not suffer with memory issues. This is why you can top up your battery as and when you want.

Check you are shutting down app's when not needed as this causes a massive drain on the battery. So does bluetooth etc.

The n95 battery is well known for being weak.

So if you have done all the above and your still having issues then either your battery is shot or the power management in your handset has issues.

Re: Battery Life

make sure you have wifi scanning turned off... this chews the battery.
other known battery killers on the n95 is the camera and gps.

I generally charge every night, but I have heavy usage.
have had mine last 2.5 days under medium usage.

Lowering the brightness of display also helps.

Re: Battery Life

I have just bought a new Nokia 6085 this week. I charged it up and used it for several days and today noticed the battery was getting low.

By the time I plugged it in the "Low Battery" message was popping up at regular intervals. Every time the message appeared it stopped the charging process. And every time I re-plugged the charger, the message popped up and stopped it again.

I left it plugged in for a few hours just in case it was charging anyway but eventually it gave a final message saying "Battery dead" and now it won't charge at all.

Which is at fault: the battery, the charger or the phone?

Re: Battery Life

Many thanks for info - still struggling as phone required charging twice yesterday without any usage!
Changed battery with same results but not sure phone is switching off correctly - the red key has no instant shutdown affect but locking verified on slide down.
Keeping in a closed case which seems to lower battery time though I can think of no reason for this.
Last day testing today then must return within trial period which is sad for I really like the phone.
Thanks for taking time to reply - that is something I doubt I shall ever have the knowledge to repay to this forum.
Best wishes

Ken
