Thanks for the advice, but these steps are not enough and even after clearing the browser cache, moving apps to the memory card and deleting all e-mail boxes I can't see where the memory is being used.
The 'memory details' function in file manager reports over 45 MB used in 'Other Files'. Does anyone know what these 'other' files are? and how to clean them?
Regards

It's not the best solution, but you can always perform a soft reset dialling *#7370# - this will delete everything on phonememory, so backup contacts, messages and calendarnotes using PC suite. I would not backup settings as I redo them instead. I often do this after a fw update to clean the device and get rid of any small glitches.
- After you have done it, make sure you set messagememory to memorycard, install any possible app on the memcard, and go for as much free space on phonememory as possible.

1. Connect the phone to your computer, execute Nokia PC Suite.
2. Browse your phone using Win Explorer or FIle Manager inside PC Suite.
3. Choose "Phone Memory", then "Data", find "licenserserv.log".
Check the MB of this file. It will amazingly huge, even it's only LOG file !!
Nokia is in drunk while making this phone... ![]()
4. Copy it to your Memory Card, just incase u need it after. Then delete the original one.
5. Check the Memory Details from your phone, if the memory is increase then it will be OK.
Thanx..

Hi Digara,
Same memory issue with my E52, what a shame for such a phone... Smartphone becoming Nokia's smugphone!! Having said that, I followed your instructions but wasn't able to find the "licenserserv.log" files, even while doing a search in my windows explorer & showing hidden files, this log files seems to doesn't exist...
Now I was determined to reset the phone but even for a simple backup, I was prompted that I had not enough memory to perform this...
This message is for you NOKIA, how can you put such a phone on the market without considering a so basic issue and even if you had forgotten to take care of this problem, why you cannot provide us with an easy solution to fix this memory issue?
It ruins my everyday working life (no sms, no web, no network,...) taking back this smartphone to a basic phone. You know what Nokia, you just lost an ambassador!

Hi Guys,
I found out something interesting.
My memory problem was linked to my default Gmail account.
The phone was stocking all my emails on the phone memory despite my configuration telling it to delete all those emails. This bug is/was impossible to see through the phone nor the PC suite.
I had to reset the phone to factory settings in order to see the email account without Gmail interface (kind of casual sms messages list).
So I selected all those messages/emails and deleted them from my phone.
I spared 45Mo from my phone memory.
Hope it will help someone....

That reset by taking out the phone worked for me!
My e52 first said my memory card was corrupted, then i switched on and off and then the memory card failed to show up.
Then I took the battery out and gave the memory card slot a blow (like the old NES) and booted back up and memory card showed up.
Not exactly convenient but it works.
Thanks Mr Parker.

The phone wouldn't even start up. In mere seconds after the boot it says that memory is full as shuts down. I can't delete anything, I can't move anything, I can't even type the bleeding reset code. What would you suggest?

Hi,
Just to share my experience.
I bought my Nokia E52 a month ago and I noticed the phone memory gets lesser everyday without any apparent reason. I deleted a few apps and cleared my messages and logs, but that didn't help.
After spending quite a bit of time browsing through the phone memory, I found that the problem with MY device lies in the third party software called "LotusTraveler", which comes pre-installed in the phone.
Using Quickoffice, I browsed to C: LotusTraveler folder and found a file called "trace.html". It was a file that kept getting bigger everyday even though I did not use this app. I have tried to delete the file but it kept re-producing itself.
Finally, I uninstalled the LotusTraveler using the PC Suite and the "mysterious" memory leak seems to have stopped.
I hope this would help those having the same problem.
