Dear Nokia,
I have been using communicators since 2004: 9210i, 9500 & now E90 since 2007.
Now. My E90 is in bad shape just bcoz i have been waiting4 the new version. Never felt like going to apple or android phones. My friends also use the same e90 & they are also waiting as we had formed a small club of communicator owners. The wait for the new model has been agonizingly long, i m sure people at Nokia are just not concerned with this& u guys do not realise what this phone means to us as a part of our lifestyle. Pls let us know if nokia has scrapped the idea of launching anynew model for this royal series of phones. Its important pls understand this as an obligation to people like us.

What about the E7?

your post has made me emotional, but let me get to the point.

1. only symbi-sister (s80/s60) had the nerve & cheek to handle 2 screens as in the communicators. present S^3 is not tested for dual screens, atleast publicly.

2. ansi v of nokia has made it violently clear that E7 is the new communicator, his presentation is in the youtube.stephen e of nokia has made it morbidly clear that nokia's "the" platform is WP.

3. Only during 2011 A.D.,  WP7.5 has just started handling simple functions one by one (not completely but 1by1), those, that 6630 did way back in 1200 BC. Dual screens, therefore, is way beyond the capacity of WP7.5. May be in future, i do not know, but definitely cannot imagine.

4. I however agree with you, Nokia SHOULD consider a market / revenue opportunity for Communicator Owners (like its Vertu (which got cancelled anyway)).

5. Me being "a Communicator", i have given up. E7 is my last nokia, until "something happens" and symbi sister is back.

6. But who can stop me from wishing an improvement of E90:

a. 4.5" inner capacitive multi-touch screen

b. 2" outer screen without touch

c. Penta band 3G / LTE / quad band GSM

d. Infra red

e. BT v.4 (read somewhere it is in the works)

f. Aluminium body

g. Removable 2000mA battery

h. 32/ 64 g microSD slot

i. 1gb RAM, 1gb ROM

j. All vid codecs

k. better music player with dolby surround (samsung omniapro B7610 had way back in 2009)

l. better email client with twin views - folder+content, like the E90 viewed SMSs & IMAP/POP emails

and the list can go on, and we can all dream on.

if they ever release a comunicator again, lets hope the keyboard is worth it; the keyboard of the e90 was awesome, the keyboard of the e7 is kindda sucky.. but so it is almost every keyboard now days (you could type with both hands on the e90, while with the e7 you have to hold the phone with one hand and type with the other, and if you have more or less long nails, you may have some trouble, also the feeling of the keys from one phone to the other is quite different).. and please NO WINDOWS

 I had all of them 9210, 9310 , 9500 .. Grate phone my old e90 just died 2 weeks a go after 4 years(twice in tollgate , fell down from 2nd floor 3 times in bear) and I just find another one on eBay , brand new .

I was so happy when they announced e7 but after months of waiting .... A big disappointing

PLEASE nokia just bring a new version of real communicator with dual screen and same size of keyboard.

All I wish from a new communicator is a better joystick, something like blackberry

and that's it . Just cheep the tradition of communicator

wow, I'm not surprised at the support for a new E-communicator type device, though in my experience, the phones have always been hamstrung by the lack of RAM and lack of fast processing power before you get to the lack of GPU. It's frustrating because Symbian Belle has really started show what a Nokia phone can actually do (although I think Nokia is trying to avoid falling foul of Apple's patent attack's so transitions and the like, seem to have been omitted - but it still all works well).

On the subject of the keyboard, well I am typing 'two-thumbed' whilst holding the device in both hands, although I would say that the keys need to be a bit more chunkier (wider). What would help, I guess is a 5" screen to help space things out, and it would provide a much easier way to cram in more tech.

Since the Nokia OS Belle update, I love my E7, and even marvel at the things that it can do over an iOS or Windows Phone device - only Android beats it - but then I know of very few with a keyboard (HTC?) of good quality construction (oh, maybe not HTC)... Certainly if the give up E-series in the current E7 form factor, then they clearly need to go out with a bang and it should certainly be a premium device, sharing some tech with high-end non-keyboard devices.. But dare they challenge their Microsoft 'masters'?

Nice to see a bunch of communicator enthusiasts. I am a fan of the form factor, but not really of the dual screen, coz I don't see much use of it. The E7 fulfills my needs of a communicator, and I really hope Nokia doesn't abandon the form factor even though everyone else is moving away from it.

E7 is NOT a communicator. here is why:

1. E7 does NOT have 2 screens: 1 for phone, another for higher resolution work, like web, docs etc

2. E7 does NOT have a clamshell form factor.

3. E7 CANNOT scan documents.

Nokia has established a communicator form factor since ages, suddenly it bleeps some new marketing bleep and we bleeping bleeps are supposed to bleep it in?!
