Well, I'm new to the whole smart phone thing (bought it for business purposes in September)
I like the E71 on the whole, fitted my budget. And Mac Friendly!
But I have noticed a few times during a few different tasks it has decided to reboot for no apparent reason.
As for the network. I mainly sync my calendar, and its tends to be fine for that.
Hope this helps

I'm with the 3 network and have exactly the same firmware revision as above. Here are my problems:
1. Phone restarts for no reason sometimes, even when idle, and sometimes in the middle of a call! I even watched it restart twice in succession on one occasion without me even touching it.
2. When I come to work on most days it fails to join the network, even though I know there is a strong 3G signal (all bars) here. This is annoying because the phone can sometimes spend a whole half day unnable to take incoming calls.
The phone has been back to 3 for repair. They say they reloaded the software and changed the antenna, but the faults have both returned within 2 days of having the phone back. It can't be my software because I've not changed any settings or even put my memory card back in yet.
Have spoken to 3 again today and they don't know what the problem is. It's pretty disappointing overall. On paper it looks like a great phone,- in practice it's very frustrating!!

i posted about this before on the 25th november is the cut off date for most of three's handsets to have new firmware's avaliable on NSU (i have seen this in paper at two three stores)
the repair centre is even more outdated. if you can;t wait send it to carphone warehouse, with your reciept they will give you the new firmware and repair your phone and keep your warranty too.
try NSU and do a full reinstall to fix the bug in three's centre FW.
my e71 is buggy with slow browsing over wifi, and random freezes, crashes for no reason,
basically has all the problems as yours do hence i've moaned over 30 times to the two local stores and the call centre
please wait a little longer the bug fixes are in sight.

My E71 is only 7 months old and for the past 5 of them my Nokia E71 has been the most frustrating thing. I wish I had got an Apple iPhone. I never want to use Nokia again!
It powers off and, until I realize, it stays that way. COMPLETLEY USELESS!
Since using it for a main business mobile phone I have missed far too many phone calls which annoys me greatly.
I have taken it to Carphone Warehouse and got told it was a firmware bug, so I updated it and it made no difference. I took it back and still when I use it does exactly the same thing. I have also taken it to a Nokia repair centre who apprenlty fixed it, but when I got it back it did the same thing again and again.
I would like to know what to do to get this sorted. I have had enough of it.
I hope Nokia actually moderate this forum and do take note of this problem, it sees that I am not the only one.
If any one from Nokia is reading this please contact me at.........acoustricks@googlemail.com .......I won't hold my breath, it is clear that they dont really care about the customer and is proven with their aftersales service.

Im with three network in UK , recently upgraded to NOKIA E71 , its got a superb signal ......until I pick up the phone !
If I hold the phone at the base , I get no signal . If I hold it at the very top with two fingers , I get a superb signal , but who wants to hold a mobile phone with two fingers ? I lose more calls with this phone than with any phone I have ever had .
Spoke to three , 'take out your battery and sim card , reset to factory original , take out sim , take out battery etc etc
Phone still doesnt hold a signal when I'm holding it !!
Taking it to the three shop tomorrow !!
Not holding my breath !!!

yes, i was with Three with a E71 for a few months and it was hell. In the end they relented and he contract was rescinded. Their network is completely stuffed - because it's not their network! it's actually O2 and O2 is saturated because of the iPhone (heavy users, you see). So Three customer service are kindly, and they try hard - but really they have nothing to sell - apart from candour perhaps but they obviously can't to do that.
I moved away from Three and live started again. Now i'm going to try the firmware update on my E71. And hopefully i should close that painful chapter of my comms life. Because if i'd been given a pound for every problem and frustration i've had with this phone, i would not need to work this month...

Jerry, o2 and three ended there relationship a long time ago, they have been with orange for a few years.
the current NSU firmware has some minor bugs fixed it seems, read the other e71 post on here
but it seems more stable and my biggest bugbear was i could not use certain builds of python due to firmware age/date but now with reinstalling it it seems to allow me to use the latest version of python now. so maybe three have listened and at least bug fixed the firmware (i use the phone very hevilly, and normally run about 7 apps continuously and still no crashes or spazz outs from it)
p.s. the camera bug is gone and now works without the purple tint and shutter speed is more responsive too,
it even outperformed my nokia supplied sim free e71 on the latest FW on benchmark apps

To continue from my last post earlier in this thread, it seems now that all my problems with my E71 have now been fixed, yes I said FIXED, and you wouldn't believe what it was!!!
Eventually spoke to a knowledgeable chap from 3 in their repair centre who asked me to take out the SIM. I thought 'here we go, he's going to ask me to put the SIM back in', but he didn't. He wanted to know the code that was printed on the SIM itself.
"AX..... I said, and he replied: "there's you problem, older SIMs are not compatible with the latest Nokia's. So I arranged to have the SIM replaced by 3, and with the new SIM the phone has not restarted on its own or lost the signal when roaming. 3 should have realised this when I took out an upgrade but they're only human I suppose.
So to summarise:
Check SIMs in E71's and if the code starts with "AX" ask 3 to replace it because its a known problem. (Not sure if this also applies to other coded SIMs or just AX). But in my case it fixed all my problems. 3 wanted to charge me 4 quid for the replacement but I refused to pay for it and have received the new SIM at no cost to me.
Good luck all of you....................
