a safety catch please

recently my e71 locked up,probably due to pressure on the key pad in the phone-wallet while in my pocket.as i normally do not use lock codes for my phones i was surprised that the hard reset and default 12345 could not unlock my genuinely purchsed piece of art and function. i use only nokia phones. could there be a means for nokia  to help genuine owners open up their locked phones.like some kind of reset button or mail.just anything.

Re: a safety catch please

Have you tried taking the battery out and then re-inserting it and performing the following:

Hold down the  green phone, the * key and the number 3 key

Turn the phone on using the power button whilst keeping these 3 keys depressed

Wait for the phone to start up

When it asks for the pin you can release the keys

The phone should be in an out of box state i.e. hard reset

Remember you will lose all your data on the phone memory when performing this, make sure to keep all three keys depressed until the phone asks for the pin or it will not work.

I hope this solves your query.

Unfortunately the only way to get rid of this lock code is to take it to an NCC pretty much. If mbamg's answer doesn't help, your next stop is an NCC. Take along your receipt, hopefully they might do it under warranty for you.
