I have owned Nokias for years and have had no issues updating firmware on the E60 then on the E51, but the E71-2 (NAM) is a terribly different story!
(1) First, I backed up via "Tools/Memory/Back-up phone memory," then a few minutes later backed up again via PC Suite; updated all necessary software on the PC; then used NSU via PC Suite to update the firmware. That went smoothly, but when I tried to restore from the memory card, lo and behold, there is no longer an option on the E71 to restore from the memory card! Is this intentional? ![]()
(2) When I then connected to PC Suite Backup, the only Restore options are "User files from the phone memory" and "Settings". I ran the restore, and no calendar, contact, etc. data was restored and none of the basic carrier settings were restored.
(3) All but one of my bluetooth devices are no longer recognized by the phone.
(4) Programs I had on the phone are gone, and several long-time programs won't reinstall or install fresh -- most notably Opera Mini. As to Opera Mini, I have tried the version I had on my E71 before the update, as well as older and newer versions, both via my PC and from opera.com. Every time, I get an error message "Cannot install."
(5) Speaking of "Cannot install," several dictionaries and other apps I had on the phone go through installation until about 80% of the progress bar is filled, and then pop up "Cannot install."
Has anyone else been having these issues? I searched and found several problems mentioned, but I couldn't find mention of the lack of a Restore option or the reinstallation problems.

Sad to hear that you are having problems with the firmware update wocius, me personally I have had no problems with the 200 update and I do believe my phone is actually working better than it did with the 110 update which I felt gave me more problems (no switching to wifi when at home using smartconnect and easy wifi, programs not installed properly after restore, messages missing after restore, a large number of restarts). I actually had to do the 110 firmware update about 3 times before I was satisfied with the results. My only suggestion is to redo the firmware update and hopefully it fixes it up alright.

Hello everybody,
I just got a Nokia E71-2, its code is 0570754, so the last update for its firmware is 100.07.76, but as I bought it second hand, I found that the firmware it has instaled it's the 200.21.118.
This brought me several problems, the most important is that the keyboard is not well configured, I can not use the ñ, and the shift characters are not the ones printed on the keys...so you have to guess where is the ?, the !, etc...does anyone knows what can I do, and if firmware reinstallation is an option, what is the functionality I will loose because of going to other firmware?
Thank you very much!!!
