Hi, I was wondering if I should go ahead and update my E63 from version 200.21.012 to the latest version. Is it worth it? I was looking around and saw people with some problems after updating. Will all my applications be deleted when I update? Also, if I ever want to revert back to the original state when I bought my phone (Nokia site) how would I do this? Thanks for the help in advance.

General rule of thumb is, if your phone is working fine and there are no new features in the updated firmware you want then you are better off leaving it alone.
I am not a hundred sure but I don't think the E63 has User Data Preservation which means you will lose your data when updating. However you can always backup your phone prior to updating and restore after the update.
You can revert the phone back to original state but not the original firmware version by hard resetting the phone. Firmware updates are not reversible.

Nokia do not usually publish official change logs but you will usually find them if you google for it.
Which applications do you want to change the access point for?

Try this. If you start the browser, then goto Options>Settings>GeneralAccess Point, set this to always ask.

Unfortunately its already set to that.
Edit: I do not have the first option in this picture: http://www.ntu.edu.sg/cits/itnetworking/NTUwireles

Can you manually use the wlan scanning function or is that gone as well?

This is strange because Wlan scan should always come up when you set to Always Ask. I thought for a moment that Wlan Scan may be missing from your phone altogether. I have been looking through the settings and can find any setting that could affect this. I'll keep looking and see if i find anything. May have to resort to resetting to get it back.

You could try the reinstall or the reset. Both will potentialy solve the problem. Personally I'd try the reset first. Just remember to backup before doing anything.

If you're in reach of a defined WLAN accesspoint, you won't see the search for WLAN tab. WLAN search works great for undefined hotspots.

If it were my phone, I'd try the reset. If you say it was there before and has since disappeared, the reset shoulf revert it back to the original form. The only thing about the reset is the hassle of having to backup and restoring your data.

raazman, did you solve your "search for WLAN" missing problem?
I own a Nokia N81 and yesterday I got the very same problem, although I didn't do anything that could cause it (no updates, no installed apps).

hi there, no I haven't figured it out yet. I haven't reset my phone either. I guess I'll just manually set the hotspot before I connect to it. It's annoying, but I've managed. If you've figured out a way, please do share. ![]()
