Hi everyone,
I have a weird problem with my E71-1. I can use the red power button to turn the phone off or to access the profiles. However, when the phone is off, I cannot use the button to power it on unless the charger is connected and the charging indicator is on.
I took it in to Nokia Care here in Bangalore, India. They kept it for a few days but could not repair it. They are giving it back as-is to me today.
I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced the same problem and could point me in the right direction as to what to do about it!
Product Code: 0566235
Firmware: 410.21.010

Hi amblors,
You had the exact same problem? Power button not working unless charger was connected? Wow!
No, the care centre hasn't tried a hard reset as far as I know - I did not approve data loss. I guess I'll take a backup and try it myself.
Thanks for the advice!

What do you mean " they could not repair it"? If they can't repair it they've to come up with some kind of solution.

Hadimassa,
They simply could not find out what was wrong with it, they offered no solution and they gave me back the phone. The only thing they said was that they wanted to "change the motherboard and see if that would fix it."
What's worse is that when I got it back, the speaker volume was down by about 50%. Looks like I'll have to take it back to them to get THAT fixed now. They're hopeless.

They can't find anything and then they want to change the motherboard? Hm, that's odd. They're playing games with you, my friend. I would go back and ask for a supervisor, accept the deal to change the motherboard under warranty conditions.

I'm not under warranty and the motherboard costs $170+ so I can't do that.
