I am using E72 for 2 months, but since then I am unable to login Yahoo msgr from the Nokia chat client. The error is Code: 409 i.e. Invalid yahoo ID or password, though, I provided the correct ID and password, while keeping the case sensitive nature of password in mind....
This problem is only coming with yahoo....Gtalk and other services are working fine!
Tried using fring also, but that too is not working with....
The ID and password are absolutely correct. Should I have to change some settings in yahoo account????
Also the mail client is working fine with yahoo....m getting the emails.....
Plz help with chat feature.....

I have the same problem for both my gmail & yahoo.
Is there anything else to configure? I don't seem to see anyway to configure this manually.

Contact Nokia Careline in your country and they should solve it for you. I notices a message from Nokia saying that they are aware of this problem and solving it by Aug 27!!!

try to change your password using the internet first... this happens because you might have entered a wrong password before with your correct codename... nokia might not have updated the ovi chat with regards to disregarding the first entered username and password when it hit a wrong input... meaning... the ovi chat recognizes a wrong password that you previously entered with the given username...changing your password gives it a fresh start...just make sure not to enter a wrong password again because you will need to rechange your password once again....

I've got the same problem with Yahoo. I already changed the password, it works on my PC and on mobile eBuddy, but I still can't manage to make it work on the chat client. Any clue?

Thank you for the post regarding the Error code 409 when attempting to log into yahoo instant messenger on a nokia phone using the nokia chat client. I am using the Nokia e75.
I have two yahoo IM accounts saved in my chat client. One continued to work with no problem. The one I needed the most lost its ability to connect and kept giving error messages (Code 409). I searched the internet and couldn't find any answers. I felt as though I was the only one having this error with Nokia's chat client and Yahoo IM.
I performed the actions listed in this thread, deleting both access for fastmobile and mobile access. By itself, that did not clear up my problem. I had already deleted the problem account, exited the chat client, performed a cold reboot of my phone and tried again to add the problem account with no luck.
Using the web browser on my phone, i logged into yahoo mail. While it was open, I opened the chat client and re-entered my credentials. With the desktop mail account open, the chat client allowed access.
I am logging in again to YIM as I type this and it went through. I am amazed at how aggravating this problem was and how few people it affected.
Thanks for your help by posting this thread.

I use E72 and had the same problem with yahoo messenger. It gave code 409. However it did work later. Try following steps:
1) Before trying to sign in on Yahoo messenger, try to use OVI chat out of four options (Gtalk, yahoo, msn, OVI chat)
2) In order to use OVI chat, you have to make an account with ID & pass.
3) After having ID & pass for OVI, try to sign in. It will ask you to go to a link by pressing 'select' in bottom right corner in order to accept terms. So pls follow that.
4) Once you sign in OVI, try to sign in Yahoo messenger now. Fingers crossed![]()
I think it will work.
Good Luck & Have a good day
