I'm thinking about getting an E72, but I have never had a Nokia smartphone before, and would like to ask a few questions hopefully somebody will be able to clarify.

1. I understand E72 supports Exchange and standard webmail apps. What is Nokia Messaging then? Looks similar to a BlackBerry set up. I have a Yahoo! email account which I would like to be able to configure it with the E72 built in email client (not the apps), and sync/reconcile two ways.

2. How about folders within Yahoo! mail? Are these shown in the built in email app?

3. I would like to have in sync Yahoo! contacts and calendar. Are these features supported?

4. Is it possible to open (and log in) Skype at phone boot?

1. NM is a Push e-mail service through which you can set up multiple e-mail accounts with it. In some countries the serice is not free if your are in one such you need to contact your service provider for its activation(after expiration) and service. Yes you can do that but Y!mail IMAP or POP configuration using other e-mail clients is not free either you need to upgrade to Y!mail plus for POP or IMAP access for Y!mails.

2. Same applies to folders.

3. Sorry I have little knowledge towards that but there is some way to do it.

4. Download the Skype app from Ovi store and set it up.

Are you sure? Here it says NM is free for all. Besides, I was under the impression NM didn't require any specific Nokia APN to work (unlike BlackBerry), so http connections should just go through your provider's server.

I read that too, but luckily it applies to yahoo.com accounts only. I have a yahoo.de account so POP would work fine on an email client. 

My question was more to do with folders and full sync/reconciliation. Do you have any experience with that?

Could you point me into the right direction? I googled it a lot, searched on this forum, but I haven't found anybody who successfully configured contacts and calendar

 Yes its indeed free till the expiration. In my country its free for lifetime but i have heard in this forum people not able to sync mails after using for sometime that may be because of operator restrictions. In that same page read point 2 carefully.

 I never use Yahoo so can't vouch for it, inbuilt e-mail client on E72 supports accessing folders so it shouldn't be a problem once you set it up.

I would have done the same thing(i.e. googling). A work around is to use this.

Logging in at the start up depends upon the application, if it the app has an option, I hope it has, you can do it.

Yes, but personally i recommend using fring. available on ovi. it has skype + twitter + other apps. works better than skype (on my phone..). i.e. i can make a skype call on fring but not skype on my phone (weird), skype only IMs. As for the other points, i set up a yahoo acct which stubbornly refuses to `push` mail to me. the other three accts are OK. dont know abt the free part - 'use Gmail ' would be my recomm , pull your current mail account and add it as a BCC in all mails

Not an option I'm afraid, as that would be through standard browser, but I'm looking for built in apps (mail, calendar and contacts)

Perhaps the uber-alles psychomania could shed some light on the questions of my first post.

mckitter (Nokia Messaging Marketing), clarified the matter on this thread: it is operator specific. 

Apologies, but I really don't get it. If all connections go through your provider's APN, how would they know whether you're connected to Nokia Messaging or to some other server? All data exchange simply count towards your internet bundle, regardless if you use it for mail, internet browsing or whatever else you want to do, doesn't it?
