Have you raised these issues with Nokia support in your country?

Unless users report such issues, Nokia cannot investigate and fix for later firmware versions.

This forum is not read by Nokia support staff, and Nokia mods do not have direct contact with Nokia departments. Only us users helping others with advice and experience :smileywink:

As for the 20 sec disconnect issue, the same thing happens on the N80. I've reported this to Nokia again, as I've seen it on a v4 handset too!

Hello,

I did report it via the support site, up to now, no answer from them :smileysad:

So I just wanted to make sure I'm not the only one who faces this problem.

Thanks for sharing your N80 issue too.

Re: E70 doesn't hang up always when you call switched off phone.

Seems to happen, for my N80, if the call is less than 20 secs. So seems there is something on the phone which is still working in the background for the first 20 secs of a call (maybe network call initiation handshaking on 3G???). I've only had it when in 3G or dual mode. Haven't seen fault in GSM only mode.

Do you get it in GSM mode too, or only 3G and dual modes? Does the fault disappear when call is longer than 20secs???

I never used UMTS I disabled it in the phone settings, so my phone works on G2 only.

And the problem only happen if I call switch off phone, the phone wont hand up when I press the red hang up button and I keep hearing the operator msg, you can't contact this person at the moment ..etc. for 15 to 20 secs.

Yes, you can go to settings -> phone -> standby -> Active Standby apps, then replace the item you don't want.

I hope this is what you meant. :smileyhappy:

Re: E70 - does yours really work ?

So is it true that for you, that everything works correctly on your E70 ?

I have had mine two months now. I have several other 'smarter' phones too, as I am researching the phones suitability as a converged services mobile device.

I am a Nokia enthusiast having tried everything from simple phones to the communicators and am convinced that Nokia have released this (E70) phone too early.

I can get none of the E-series phones to work with my bosses 7 series BMW ( all other Nokia phones I have tried do work - we haven't changed the car, but according to our local Nokia service centre, the phone has a standard Nokia implementation of Bluetooth ! Yeah - right ! )

The SIP implementation is wonderful, if you are in the office where the SIP proxy is. Go outside to the public internet and, well you know already, the NAT issues bites.
I know it can work with Asterix ( not many Corporates use Asterix as their primary SIP server ).

The wireless access point setup for SIP allows one access point ( not a group of access points ). REAL LIFE - we are going to show our users how to change the access point settings to make a SIP call each time they leave or come back to the office, and have them reboot the phone - Right!

But you are right, we shouldn't be overly critical. It's not fair. After all, it's unreasonable to expect that a company like Nokia to understand how we might want to use a phone...

Re: Things and bugs I didn't like in E70

I don't like how slow the phone is handling java apps like mgmaps. On other phones the menu is usually very responsive on the E70 i need to wait couple of seconds for every menu scroll.
