Hi, mates!
I have a serious doubt about updating the frimware version of my Nokia E71, have it for an year already, without any problems.
My firmware version is:
100.07.76
08-06-2008
RM-346
Nokia E71-1(227.02)
I have bought the device from Germany, so it has a german keyboard layout, this means that the places of "y" and "z" are mixed. The whole keyboard has a symbol additionaly to the letter on it, that is very useful and my greatest doubt is connected with it. So, for instance, "Q" has not only the letter but additionaly the "!" symbol, "W" has " ' " "E" has "&" and so on.
Is there a way that I can update with such a specific firmware version that will allow me to type these symbols after updating?!
That is probably the only thing that stops me from trying the new software versions Nokia has to offer.
My second question is: What is the best and most stable firmware version for the Nokia E71, have read about problems with the battery life and so on.. So, can you, please, give me an advice, which version should I choose, and what should I adjust, so that I can use the German keyboard layout with the same symbols on the letter afterwards
?
Thanks in advance!
I appreciate your help!

@hadimassa,
Would the updater recognise that my phone is with german keyboard layout(will the update programme take this into consideration, I want to type the word and symbol I see on the button, in my case the buttons are qwertz, not qwerty as usual) and will the symbols on every button be useful as it is now after I update the firmware(e.g. on the A I have also a "@", on the L I have also "=")?!
My biggest concern is the current keyboard layout, will it last the same as now(will it be recognised and kept the same way), or the new firmware changes it as it is on the english market phones?

Thanks for the reply, that was everything I wanted to know.
I bought the phone from Germany, use it in Germany also and it is O2-branded(there are O2 mail folder in the SMS menu, but I do not use them at all and it will not be a problem if I lose them after the update
)
Thanks again!
